This Is Thailand  if you think "only in Thailand" check car prices in Singapore!

Singapore is an island nation with a limited number of roads.

Very sensible to keep car ownership to an absolute minimum there

whether sensible or not was not the point of discussion. Singapore traffic is not denser than Bangkok traffic.

this is not my calculation but an excerpt from Thai car import tariffs.

Fair enough, I don't expect you to know and I've never been able to work out how they arrive at their figures either, although the rate you proffered is only the duty, not the rest of it.

The calculation is not simple, but suffice to say that 56.9% according to that schedule for an example like 220d/250d isn't the end of the calculation.

They all under declare, that's the end of the story.

You made a comparison with Singapore and I put it in context.

There's a reason for high vehicle prices and the CoE in Singapore. There's no fathomable reason for the same or similar prices for luxury, GT and sports cars in Thailand.

last time i checked Thailand was an independent country which can levy import duties as the relevant authorities please if sanctioned by the government.

so what? does this attract 328% import duty?

I don't know.

I only sell the things, although not to TH anymore.

As I mentioned "Many people on this board are quoting tax/duty etc at 328%"

I do know how much I sell them for though!

Ok Naam,

I shall say no more.

Have a good evening.

Actually, I don't tell fairy tales.

At unreasonable amounts that keep them out of the hands of all but a few of the super-rich.

Thai people are quite happy to spend ridiculous amounts of money on crappy Polish built Benz's though, as their need to have their ego stimulated to compensate for a lack in other departments.

the usual tirade from people who...
