we are flying to bkk on nok and have more kg of luggage than they allow, so thinking to send the extra stuff in a box on the bus the night before, then pick up in the bus station in bkk

 

has anyone done that recently, how much do they charge for a box about 20kg, did it arrive ok?

You'd do better using the Thai postal system. Buses are notorious for having items stolen. 

 

You can pay for an additional 25kg per person with Nokair as well, though I assume you've taken this into account already.

Also, another alternative is to buy a third Nok Air seat, just for the purpose of putting the 20KG box in the check in luggage.  This way, you do not need to go to the Post Office or bus station in Bangkok.

Assuming you aren't travelling within 24 hours then this is available:

 

• Buy More option, purchase after booking process
  • THB 350 per flight per 5 kg in addition to normal allowance.
  • THB 400 per flight per 10 kg in addition to normal allowance.
  • THB 650 per flight per 15 kg in addition to normal allowance.
  • THB 900 per flight per 20 kg in addition to normal allowance.
  • THB 1,100 per flight per 25 kg in addition to normal allowance.
  • These packages can be purchased only after the booking process and must be purchased at least 24 hours in advance before traveling time.
