I've been notified that the Windows 10 Creators Update is available, but I have to review privacy settings first.

The things listed as new with the update ... a 3D paint app, enhanced gaming something or other, something to do with tabs, etc ... don't sound like anything I'd need or want to use (or have a clue about). I also have some qualms about changing things on Windows since it seems such changes often come with unintended/unwanted consequences.

Anyone know if this update is of any value to someone who is getting along fine without it and/or will ignoring this update put a roadblock in place for other automatic, basic updates?

Thanks in advance.

While it probably contains significant security and patch rollups, some sites are recommending you hold off until the new version is declared “Current Branch for Business.”

How to update Windows 10 – safely

I've been running on Win10 Creator's Update (1703 OS Build 15063.296) for a while now without issue, except for my wireless connection failing to automatically connect on bootup.

I updated all 4 of my Win10 machines (personal use) and it was painless.

Knock wood...  (It is Microsoft, after all)

...oh, and as a precaution I create a Macrium Reflect 'Full' Image of OS and DATA partitions before and after, just in case I need to roll back to a previous Win10 incarnation until they fix whatever they broke that I can't live with/without.

Thanks for the comments. I did the update. So far everything seems to be working without a hitch and nothing has gone AWOL as far as I can tell.

I've resisted the temptation to do any 3D artwork.

It's an interesting little program, allowing you to place shaped objects and paste images on them.

But frustrating as all get out.
