BANGKOK, 29 May 2017 (NNT) – The National Unity and Reconciliation Creation Committee has released a detailed paper on public opinion and called for the drafting of a social contract.

Committee spokesperson Maj Gen Kongcheep Tantravanich said the committee's reconciliation process has been carried out during the last three months while the general public have been active to voice their opinion.

Such public opinion has been compiled and analyzed in the document for use in making a social contract which will be upheld to ensure peace in society.

He said the unity-making process was not a new movement as all previous governments had tried to do so while the present government is only pursuing the same efforts in a more concrete way by immediately stopping all violent conflict and bringing the society back to peaceful state.

He added the government has ensured all positive ideas of the people would be put to work.

The government has ensured all positive ideas of the people would be put to work. One has to love the statments that come out and how they can be interpreted.

We know who made critical opinions and will ensure peace by setting up some adjustment attitude sessions as part of our social contract.

I don't think the NCC even know what is a social contract. A social contract should be short and easy to understand and remember among members of society. Sort of an implicit understanding. The NCC seem to labor to draft a social contract when a simple agreement to build an egalitarian nation would be sufficient. A nation where every individual is entitled to the rights of a citizen. Basically participation and equality for the whole strata of the citizens; rich or poor, educated or non-educated. Opps, think I see why the NCC labored.

Not so sure he cares about a real social contract...more likely to be interested in being able to say he has established a social contract (regardless of the Thai publics opinion may be) so he has the full support of the Thai society. And the beat goes on!
