I agree and not burdening my partner or friends with making such arrangements was my main consideration in prepaying for funeral service with the Bangkok office of a well established Australian Funeral company.  My request was for a simple Buddhist ceremony (more to please my Thai partner as well as not subjecting friends to the more typical lengthy Thai funeral).

Included in the plan is for the Funeral Directors to claim my body and and transport it to Pattaya (even if it is at the Police Hospital for autopsy in Bangkok - they do not include autopsy cost in the plan), make arrangements with Wat and pay for the ceremony and cremation with the provision that they give my ashes to my Partner.  They also arrange for and pick up my Embassy's certification of death abroad - US Embassy.  This company has handled several funerals/cremations here in Pattaya of Expats and came highly recommended.

can you share it?  or PM me - cheers

Hello, Jamie!

*  It depends on where you live. City cremations will be cheaper than rural cremations because the monks only pray in the evening. Choose 3 days. That's the minimum. Choose the smallest temple you can find so you only pay 300 Baht to a small number of monks. If you choose a big temple with (50-100) monks, the expense will be high as they might all attend.
*  My wife's rural cremation might be 50,000 Baht cheapest (all 10 temple monks x 300 Baht each morning and evening, 3 days, flowers, and food for the monks and for whoever attends the prayers.

*  An alternative is to find a Chinese cemetery and buy the smallest plot of land. Digging the grave is included. Have a friend pray for you. Coffin: No more than 10,000 Baht for simple wood. The headstone is up to what you want. No need for monks, donations, and meals. My plot in a rural Chinese cemetery costs 40,000 Baht.

I hope this helps. Cremations can be very expensive.
