PARIS (Reuters) - Russian President Vladimir Putin dismissed on Tuesday any suggestion that Syrian President Bashar al-Assad's forces were behind a chemical attack that killed scores of people in Idlib province in April.

"According to our information, there is no proof that chemical weapons were used by Assad. We are convinced that he didn't do it," Putin told daily newspaper Le Figaro in an interview.

The remarks came a day after new French President Emmanuel Macron, whose country's intelligence services in April blamed Assad for the Idlib attack, said the use of chemical weapons in Syria was a red line for Paris and would result in reprisals.

Putin said he had offered to arrange inspections of the site in the town of Khan Sheikhoun, but that all the major powers had refused. He said the objective of the allegations had been to discredit Assad and put pressure on him.

It was a way of "explaining to the international community why it was necessary to continue to impose measures to pressure Assad, including militarily," Putin said.

I don't trust Putin, and I don't trust the west. I certainly don't trust Assad. The question I need answered though, is why would Assad, who with the support of the Russians was/is finally winning the war, suddenly go and use chemical weapons knowing full well it would draw the ire of the US and it's allies and put his future in a very precarious position once again?

Quite right too just like it wasn't a Russian missile that brought down the Malaysian plane.

No it was a Kiev one as the BUK was an old version Russia doesn't use anymore. But drink the MSM cool aid and you believe anything they tell you. The photo's of the BUK that was supposed to be involved was published by Kiev, the only problem is that the place where this photo was taken was inside Kiev controlled area. Key evidence was not even looked at in this case and the report is as one sided as a Thai junta poll. A history lesson for you, never trust (neo) Nazi's and Fascist's and that is what the Kiev government is.

Google MIT professors report on the Syrian chemical incident and you will see that scientifically the attack could not have taken place as the so called rebels claims. The canister they claimed contained the chemical was damaged on top which means someone placed the canister in a hole and detonated explosives on top of it. If it was a bomb or a rocket it would have burst open on impact. The so called rebels also walked around the contaminated site to do a photo shoot, without wearing proper protective clothing. The question why they would do that as they know they can die (well if there was an attack).  Read the unbiased report and see for yourself to which level western media and governments is willing to bend the truth to get a war going with Russia.

Assad and Putin are no angels but neither are the west.

Yeah right it was why Putin was so eager to assist with the international inquiry he had nothing to hide. Its why the investigators initially were kept at bay. Some people will believe anything they tell you.

If the missle in Ukraine was a  Kiev one, why did the launcher get taken back to Russia  right after it happened.  You drank too much cool aid.

I do not believe a thing that Putin says, the guy is former KGB, you know like the USAs CIA.  Think on that for a few minutes.

As well the pictures of the chemical attack were taken after the agent was dispelled, and that is why there was no need  for

protective gear.  I still like the supporters of Russia and its leader Putin.  Assad  is such  an  angel as well. Do  not  forget that

he was killing his own people before ISIL came  into Syria.  Oh  some  forgot that part all   ready..

Geezer
