Police have advised the public to clamp their cars when parking them outside their properties at night.

The advice comes after a gang of seven people headed by a husband and wife were rounded up and displayed at the Sam Khok police station in Pathum Thani yesterday.

The leader of the gang - a 53 year old man called Somchai - had just been let out of jail where he had served time for stealing cars, Manager reported.

Somchai said that the gang had done at least ten thefts in this latest caper.

The gang would break into houses and then steal the keys to vehicles parked outside and drive them away.

These were then taken to the border with another country and exchanged for drugs. The country was not named.

A Honda Civic that was used in pursuance of the crimes and a stolen Vigo were taken into evidence.

Police said that work was underway to try and retrieve the stolen vehicles from the neighboring country and return them to their owners.

The thefts occurred in the Saraburi and Pathum Thani areas.

All the gang have been charged and detained while two more gang members are currently being sought.

Police said that people who are obliged to leave their cars outside their properties at night should clamp their vehicles to make it as hard as possible for such gangs to steal them.

So no checking at the borders who is driving or whose car is it, Thailand is really a crazy country:cheesy:
