A combined force of Department of Special Investigation (DSI) officials, military personnel and forest officials raided two luxury homes on a hill in Takua Thung district of Phang Nga province in search of the fugitive Phra Dhammachayo, former abbot of Dhammachayo temple, but failed to locate him.

The raid at the two homes followed a tip-off that Phra Dhammachayo may be hiding in the property which belongs to one of his faithful disciples said to be a telecom tycoon.

However he was not located as the team was not allowed to enter the premise. Only a handful of authorities were allowed in to the large property covering a total of 39 rai.

DSI chief Pol Col Paisit Wongmuang admitted that officials has earlier received information that Phra Dhammachayo was hiding there.

Although the fugitive could not be located but DSI discovered that the property encroached on forestry area.

They weren't allowed in as this was a property belonging to another 'untouchable' but having being denied entry, they were able to say that he wasn't there.

And it is not going to change anytime soon whilst these people are protected by a succession of corrupt and/or incompetent governments.

Airborne raid may sound a bit excessive, but to be considered part of the Thai Air Force, the only requirement is a para-shoot jump.  The reason why you see many police and other armed services with para-shoot patches on their uniforms is that the air force offers a  pension.  So we can only hope these extravagance served at least one purpose.   Was told this years ago.  Anyone have conflicting information ?

but then the combined force of DSI cum Military cum Officials faced life's realities as they were not given permission to enter, thus the "raid" fizzled out as they waited patiently at the locked gates... these poor, powerless people when faced with a "tycoon", vs. these powerful, authoritative people when faced with ordinary citizen (preferably student or octogenarians)

in many cases they are connected to the government and/or members themselves; one of the richest people i know here

is a former longtime governor (not of our province; but he does have extensive property here)

who is involved in so many things just intimating more could get me in trouble

Sp some of the property is encroaching on Forestry land.  Take up some big equipment and tear down

any structure that is encroaching. If it is a building, Oh Well!  if it is just yard and fence, again Oh Well!

Geezer
