BANGKOK: -- The Royal Thai Police and Deputy Prime Minister and Defence Minister General Prawit Wongsuwan on Monday played down a warning by the Provincial Administration Department for authorities to vigilant against possible bomb attacks in Phuket, Phang Nga and Krabi provinces.

Prawit said he has not received any report from the Interior Ministry regarding a threat in the provinces so he doubted the authenticity of the warning.

But Royal Thai Police deputy spokesman Colonel Krissana Pattanacharoen said he learned that the department’s issuance of the warning was routine practice so the provinces remained on alert against terrorist threats.

He said the department simply wanted authorities to be careful in provinces where there are a lot of foreign tourists, such as Phuket, Surat Thani, Krabi and Phang Nga.

He said police have not receive any significant information that bomb attacks will happen.

He said police have been coordinating with all other security agencies in a bid to prevent untoward incidents by setting up checkpoints in tourist-destination provinces.

Krissana said the department did not ask police to beef up security in the three provinces.

The word routine is what concerns me.

The words to vigilant are what concern me.

So it seems the head of security only accepts a bomb threat if he hears about one from the Interior Ministry.....no news is good news in his small mind!

Note to future terrorists....

Don't bother giving any warning. There is no Thai authority who will give the threat credibility until a bomb explodes.

Why would you 'play down' such a warning especially with whats already happened around the country and is happening around the world... get a grip ole boy!!

Please try and keep up sunshine:post-4641-1156694572:

And the fact that the right hand does not know what the left hand is doing.
