PATTAYA: -- Tourists wondered about the state of the sea in Pattaya yesterday as a phenomenon known as plankton bloom hit the resort.

Knowing Thais will have just understood it was "whale pooh".

Due to a great increase in the level of plankton in the area the sea has turned into a lurid green color from the Dusit Resort Hotel in

North Pattaya all the way to South Pattaya, reported Tnews.

A video showed the phenomenon offshore some 100 meters from the beach. It showed two distinct colors to the sea.

But later it made landfall with tourists wondering what it was all about.

It had hit Bang Saen last week but is now moving down the coast.

Thais call such an event "Khii plaa waan" - whale pooh.

You will never get me into the sea in Thailand, the most disgusting cesspit in the world.  Thailand without a doubt would have to have the most polluted beaches in the world, sewage, chemicals, floating garbage and even bodies washing up.

Thanks for that. Surface in a recent report about yje construction on Soi Watboon/beach rd.

What I assumed and why it never stinks when you pass by.

Many times when on visit I drove by without the slightest idea what it is.

Some people might not be happy if it starts operating.

Lurid, great choice of words. Here is one of it's meanings as well, which suits Pattaya quite nicely.

lurid adjective

 UK  /ˈlʊə.rɪd/ US  /ˈlʊr.ɪd/ disapproving

lurid adjective (SHOCK

We know what the word means, but lets do an easy discription

Loads of crap floating in the sea where tourist swim after paying for a holiday in hell.

Locals like it, Tourists do not and TAT say its safe. Bring Your Own Body Bag and say goodbye to loved ones if you are stupid enough to take a holiday in this place

I know tourists who are worried about the state of the whole place, not just what's in the water !

My friend has been holidaying in Pattaya with his family annually for the last 10 years, this year was his last visit.. he said no more !

He said on arrival the the airport was a mess, the taxi driver tried to rip him off on the journey to Pattaya.

The hotel was nothing like the brochure advertised, the beach was a mess, the sea stank, the bars were always frightening to visit

having to watch your back at every turn.

Relaxing he said was not a word he would use for the experience.

Next year he said he would still choose Asia, but Thailand would not be on the list!
