Tak Bai police step up crime suppression in last 10 days of Muslim fasting month

By The Nation

POLICE stepped up a crackdown on crime in Tak Bai in Narathiwat on Friday, as the last 10 days of Ramadan – Muslims’ fasting month – began.

Deputy Tak Bai police chief Pol Lt Col Thaweesak Sawadraksa dispatched teams of police to patrol various parts of the district and to step up checks for possible illegal activity.

Thaweesak led a team to inspect Dan Chamao checkpoint to instruct police there to enforce the law strictly.

He said insurgents might step up terror attacks during this period of the holy fasting month.

Why?

Is it believed by the Buddhist government Thai police that Muslims in southern Thailand are prone towards the end of Ramadan to commit crimes and only in Tak Bai? Sounds like Muslim-baiting to incite violence.
