Unregistered Marriage

My wife and I got married 22 years ago in the UK but she never registered the marriage in Thailand.  If she registered it now would there be problems?

An unregistered marriage is similar to an unregistered mortgage. Register it only when needed to claim your interest in your wife.

If we registered now wouldn't the authorities ask questions, why come to us 22 years after the event?

It is a registered marriage, the only problem is that it is not registered in Thailand which makes it more difficult to proof nothing more. But the marriage is legal.

 

If you want an extension based on marriage from Thai immigration they will insist that you register your foreign marriage in Thailand.

Simples, just re marry in Thailand and register it at the Amphur.

And how can he get his affirmation to marry letter from the embassy.....without his divorce certificate.....lol

I may well be wrong but I don't think the amphur will break the rules and marry someone without it, but you never know.
