Bargirls and night workers asked for their opinion as Prayut's politics' questions come to Walking Street

Do you think the next election will bring a government with good governance?

Considering that Little P. and his band of fools, has insured that a good percentage of parliament will be populated by people who the army continues to control, long after they have left their positions, and allowed a democracy to exist, the answer is most likely not.

What should happen if it does not govern well?

The people should show their displeasure. Hopefully, that will not still be against the laws as it is now.

Elections are an important part of the democratic process. Is it correct merely to give importance to elections without consideration for the future of the country in areas such as national strategy and reform?

Yes. Elections are important. Change is good. Getting rid of the tiny man will be a great thing for the nation. National strategy is best considered by people of intelligence, not minions without vision or strategy, or imagination.

Do you think political groups displaying inappropriate behavior deserve a chance to run in elections? If they are elected, who should solve the problem and how?

Inappropriate behavior, by who's standard? Are you labeling a protest, or a demonstration to be inappropriate behavior? I will turn the question around. Do current politicians who display inappropriate, deserving of their positions of leadership? And who are you to make that determination?

These questions are beyond most people here and in Walking Street it is likely to yield a blank stare before quickly sizing up where the next punter is.

The questions are thought provoking and suggest that democracy isn't all it is cut out to be. Yes I can agree with that but this military government aren't allocating funds to education, health care, infrastructure programs and job creation projects so when it comes to accountability they don't get any positive ticks so maybe they aren't the correct organisation to conduct these surveys.

You couldn't make this stuff but they just did. It's the gift that keeps on (not) giving. And the reason that most real humour with the exception of the ting tong stuff is effectively banned. If Thailand was free to ridicule their leaders then the laughter would begin and pretty much never stop until they were almost dead with laughter and after that the real anger would begin. And that's why we musn't laught at that ....because for sure that will not be funny.

Many things have changed so far, but not in favor of Thais and foreigners.

Fags, beer, benzine, food, etc.. is so expensive that it's cheaper now to eat out, instead of cooking at home.

How should the ordinary Somchai, let's take an MK employee who makes about 15 K/month live a good life having a family?

You can't just make everything more expensive and leave the poor behind.

IMO, the locals I know do not like what's happening right now and they're all aware that it won't change in the near future.

In short: The country is screwed by

Before by the T. family, a never ending screw up.

Spot on! I don't know if Thailand could ever call itself a democracy?

Perhaps a democrazy, but not more.

The poorer get poorer and the military folks now richer. It's so sad for all the good people in this country who're trying to survive with almost nothing.

Yet, the government claims very low inflation. I remember clearly, how often Yingluck used to talk about how low the inflation numbers were. The whole time food prices, real estate, and nearly everything else was going up dramatically. Same in the US. Massive inflation in the past few years. Yet, they claim a very low CPI, and inflation. All complete nonsense. Means nothing to the average consumer who is struggling to get by on a limited income. The cost of steel sheeting does not mean much to most of us. Sorry guys, your bullcrap numbers do not wash with the public. We see right through it.
