 Hi all,

Went to several stationery shops and bookshops recently (B&S, Kinokuniya, Office Pro, Another Story, some shop in MBK, ...) trying to buy index cards (thick paper cards used to create library catalogues etc. in the olden times). I failed miserably and the poor shop assistants had absolutely no idea what I was looking for.

Anyone know where I can get some?

TIA.

Might be an idea to show an image of one to the sales staff.

Yes, that's exactly what I did. It was recognized only in B2S and Kinokuniya.

one time, I couldn't find a bottle opener in any of the shops,  to open the beer.

walking around in the heat,  felt utterly feckless,  for this type of thing.

B2S @ Central Chidlom had them - thanks, richsilver. The assistant ladies did not even know they are in stock - they assumed I ment post-its.

In case anyone ever needs to buy these - index cards are to be found one shelf past the invoice forms and other formal documents of this kind.

When I was first looking for index cards I brought one along that had my shopping list written on it.  When I went into one store and showed them the card I wanted to buy, they kept looking at my list!  They passed the card around to several employees and I had to explain to each one that I wanted the card itself, not what was written on it.

Well, I went high tech and showed them a photo gallery of index cards from google.

As you can imagine, that didn't improve things much. :-)

I find that works very well indeed.  Nowadays whenever I want something unusual, I make sure to Google an image and bring it along on my phone.  This works great in the supermarket or department store.
