I have a non o based on marriage.

I want to extend it for one year.

I went today at Sri Racha immigration with my Rich condo owner and my Thai wife.

There is the problem.

Ill have the required last paper between the 10th and 15th of this month.

But I have to leave Thailand by the 09th...

I already extended my 3 month of visa non o by 2 months.

I was convinced that I could use at least a 2 months extension again on the same visa. Or at least get a basic 30 days.

i was very wrong ;-) learned that today since both Sri Racha and Pattaya refused.

So now either I leave Thailand to get a new non o at Vientiane. It will cost me quiet a lot.

or I could avoid all the costs and waiting times, traveling, etc.

by going to the immigration with the last missing paper. But then it would mean I will be 7 days overstay. (Maximum)

Maybe I can arrange that quicker. But not sure.

the officer was also kind to remind me that Monday is a special day so it would not count as overstay if I went the next day.

What do you think?

Unless confident you can visit immigration July 11 (first day immigration is open after your permission to stay expires) bite the bullet and go out for a fresh Non O. I think it is uncertain whether immigration will even allow you to pay the fine and grant the one-year extension if you try on July 12 or later.

If you overstay, I believe you get slapped hard these days with a 1 year ban.

The 1 year ban is only if you overstay more than 90 days.

If caught it would be 5 years for an overstay of less than year. More than a year is a 10 year ban.

You could ask immigration if they would do the one year extension after applying  for a extension, paying 1900 baht and being granted 7 days to leave the country after the extension application is denied.

No she didn't want to grant me an extension.

She said that if she gave me an extension, it would become a Tourist extension and she would not be able to process my marriage one year extension request...

I feel like it's bullshit but... that's it.

I'll try to be there on Tuesday right after getting the missing paper on Monday (French embassy do not close for this Thai holiday...)

Ubonjoe can you confirm what BritTim said? If I overstay a few days they will not even want to take my money to clear the overstay??

And last, as I said, I have to leave Thailand on the 9th, and the immigration is closed until the 11th.

Will the overstay be 3 days on the 11th? And will they close their eyes about it since they were closed?

And if I'm one day late and go there the 12th, do they start to count the overstay from the 9th or from the 11th...

It is up to the office whether they will allow an extension during the 7 days for a denied extension. Many will not do it now. The rules are vague about it.

If you apply on Tuesday you will not be fined for an overstay since the office is closed on the date and the day after your permit to stay ended. If you go after Tuesday you will be fined for every day of overstay.

Most offices will accept an extension application with a few days of overstay after you pay the fine.
