TM 30 by mail possible?

Featured Replies

After calling Phuket Imm and getting a lot of frustrating non answers re  TM 30 Residential Notification   (as in just be told to " you contact immigration ")  I called the 1111 center and was told this can be done by mail.  Sounds too good to be true Anyone done  this ?

Background;

On one year extension retirement - I have a current 90 day notification   due Aug 28 th  But have  left country,  reentered  this past Thurs  July 6th driving from Malaysia staying overnight at a hotel   and arriving in Phuket late Fri afternoon  so presumably I have until end of today to get this done without fines.. (And what are those fines? )

I now realize I did not do this last March when I last left,  but was able to do a  90 day notification in May - so was that also a TM- 30 ?

Thanks in advance

Some immigration-offices are not enforcing the TM-30 at all (Bangkok).  Others are only enforcing it for those not doing 90-day reports.  You will not be able to get an answer from the 1111-hotline, because it is not specific-info for your particular office (Phuket).   Whether you can do this by mail would depend on the policy at your particular office (Phuket).

I have seen different fine-rates reported here for failure to file a TM-30 - sometimes 5K Baht.  The issue is usually raised, and fines-levied, upon one's next application for an extension-of-stay - but sometimes has come up in other cases.

Unless someone with a recent, Puket-specific set of instructions responds, I would go to the Phuket immigration office and file a TM-30 form, to be on the safe-side.

 ^ Thanks for that , so do you think mail is OK -  but now I have added problem of not having a lease and an absent landlord somewhere  in EU traveling and not responding..

What a hassle

I have no idea if a TM-30 by mail is ok with Phuket.
If you are in a condo, it is possible that the Justic-Person can write a letter stating you live there, which might be acceptable at Phuket immigration (I have used these from my current and previous condo).  You would definitely need some sort of evidence that you live where you are stating you live, on the TM-30 form.

I would take whatever you have to prove residence (bills, etc?) and try to file a TM-30 at your immigration-office.  Showing your intent to comply might count for something, and buy you more time without a fine to get additional proof - though that depends entirely on the IO(s) you deal with and office-policy.
