The annoyance of the ++ prices
VAT and fixed service charges are more of a European way of life, though we'll take any opportunity to try to blame Americans. I was strongly admonished so many years ago at a swank Swiss resto in the States. I'd assumed a service charge, in a hurry to get my date into bed, and I didn't leave a tip. The waiter ran after me to inform me that "this isn't Europe." -

Trump vows to blame the Jews if he loses at events meant to combat antisemitism
He's so clever isn't he? Yet they are less than 2.5% of the US population. If he thinks they can make or break the election he's totally out to lunch. Meanwhile, African Americans total 14% and Latinos total 19% of the population. It is more likely the majority of them will vote for Harris. Those are the ones he should really worry about, but he's already lost most of their votes. -

Are cars legally required to stop for a zebra?
If you really want to see what is in the depths of the hearts of men, put them in a car with tinted windows and watch how they drive. -

Are cars legally required to stop for a zebra?
Are cars legally required to stop for a pedestrian crossing a zebra, or is it "up to them"? Not unless there is a red light at the crossing. However, unlike the West, here is Thailand it's a matter of self-preservation. If you believe you have "the right to have cars stop for you in a crosswalk!," you may find yourself being shipped back to your home country in an urn. Even at crosswalk with red lights for oncoming traffic, I always look and keep an eye looking in the periphery of my vision in both directions, even on a one way. Well - unless you're up to winning a Darwin Award. By the way, if you really think that you're "In The Right" and insist on walking in front of a vehicle in a crosswalk and get hit and end up in the hospital, unlike the West, you'll more than likely end up paying for most of your own hospital bills and there isn't going to be any civil suit where you get paid for your "pain and suffering." This ain't Kansas anymore Toto. -

Are cars legally required to stop for a zebra?
Here in Khao Lak I notice that cars do stop for tourists as they cross the main road on the zebra crossing. The first time I wanted to cross, I was completely 'thrown' by the sight of cars stopping for me. I think I've been in Thailand too long!- 1

Mother in Tears: Daughter Dies in Russia, Family Struggles to Bring Ashes Home
Don't dig yourself into a deeper hole. When is the last Thai funeral you attended where the body was not cremated? Thai buddhists almost never embalm or bury corpses. Ethnic Chinese and Christians can do that. Thai muslims bury within 24 hours. There are multiple obstacles to a decent funeral for a Thai in Russia. The Thai ceremony is supposed to be carried out at a wat or family home. Family and close friends should be in attendance. There should be a monk in attendance. This is to allow for the daily prayers and the giving of alms and a presentation of robes. None of that can happen in Russia. There isn't a Theravada wat, there are no Theravada monks and there are no family members. The funeral is also for the living. This is why the family wants either the body or the cremated remains returned as quickly as possible so that a proper Thai funeral can be given. Thai people put a great deal of emphasis upon respecting their traditions and the funeral is a major event, particularly for the parents who must attend to their child. -

Switching from Non-Immigrant OA to Non-Immigrant O on basis of Retirement
After having completed 9 annual extensions as outlined in my post I think I know I am on extension of stay. The OA Visa requires compulsory medical insurance the O Visa does not. Whilst the original O-A visa has expired it still dictates the medical insurance requirement at every annual extension. -

you just gotta love Cats !
We have a cat, okay the cat has us !!, who visits most days for a daytime snooze, the kids love Lucky ! He has graced us with his presence for around 2 years but we know he also visits the neighbours . A while ago he started stalking a black female who also visited us but only to eat and was very timid. Back in May “ Blackie” gave birth to 4 kittens under my car and they soon found climbing inside the car a perfect hideaway. We had to use a cat sounds video on my phone to call the mother who, feeling threatened, would come and call them out. We discovered that if they didn’t come out they would stay tucked up in the undercarriage of the car for local trips. One actually stayed in the car for around 30 hours and 500 km when we went to a family funeral, quickly descended when we returned home where the mother was waiting. Unfortunately I reversed over one and gradually they have disappeared with only one kitten and Blackie visiting us to eat occasionally. They do still give great pleasure when they visit and have caught at least 3 rats: IMG_4211.mov I wished they would have all stayed like this and grown up to entertain us daily but sadly not to be : IMG_3943.mov Kiki, as is now known, visits occasionally and a couple of times has come into the house for a play: IMG_4718.mov -
