BMA findings solutions to street hawking

BANGKOK, 18 July 2017 (NNT) - The Bangkok Metropolitan Administration (BMA) met with street vendors from 50 districts of Bangkok to find a solution to street hawking.

Bangkok Governor Pol Gen Asawin Kwanmuang met with a group of street vendors who asked that the BMA allow them to return to their old locations where they could make a living, claiming that their businesses have been very slow since they moved to the new location provided by the city hall.

In reply, the governor said he would instruct district offices to set up a joint committee which will consist of members of the public, the media, street vendors, the police, the BMA Council, and the Ministry of Commerce to discuss the issue.

The governor said no vendors would be allowed on unauthorized footpaths, adding that the Ministry of Commerce and the city hall have already established a joint committee to find new locations and seek funds to assist the vendors.
