snoop1130
Three Udon Thani men arrested for growing marijuana By The Nation Three men in Udon Thani province have been arrested for growing marijuana in their sugar cane plantations for use as “herb for diabetes”. The three, who were arrested at 7pm on Wednesday, were identified as Suwan Champichote, 52, Somwang Khamphan, 57 and Samorn Saeng-on, 57. They are residents of Ban Nong Waeng village in Tambon Nong Waeng in Udon Thani’s Ban Fua district. Police said they found several marijuana plants in their sugar cane plantations and they also grew one each at their houses. Police said the accused had admitted to growing marijuana for five months but they had not sold any of the harvest. They said they grew the drug to use as a herb to alleviate their diabetes and high-blood pressure condition. They said they boiled the leaves and drank one glass a day. plachon
Sounds like it was for personal use. Whether a bit of grass can help cure diabetes, I have no idea, but it is one of the oldest herbal remedies in the Isaan boondocks, and makes a healthy additive to any chicken soup or gaeng joot. Seems like the cops are going after the minnows as usual and leaving the big fish alone. But then again, they wouldn't want to tread on any large feet or upset their paymasters with investigating the wrong person. Gen Chavalit used to be best buddies with the biggest dealer in Lao weed in Nakhon Phanom back in the 80s and 90s, but was never fingered once by the local cops. natway09
Interesting state of affairs here, I was talking to a mate in Christchurch who suggested that very household should grow 3 plants & just see how the authorities handle it. The stuff is harmless & is a great relaxer which could help in stress related problems
tso310
Never heard of it being used for diabetes type 2. Getting the munchies is not good for keeping your weight down and thus helping your diabetes / blood sugar control.
