Hi, I went to a wat and the monk sprinkeled some water on me and tied an orange bracelet on my wrist. What does that represent? Good luck? Thanks

The string around your wrist is called sai sin. Monks give this to you for good luck and also relatives and friends will give you this during your wedding. Also common during the Thai New Year for family to place on each other. The color is usually white but at a Wot the color could represent the particular monk giving it.

Also during a new house ceremony, ขึ้นบ้านใหม่ or "KEUN BAAN MAI" means build a new house it is used. It is used to protect the house and give the inhabitants good luck. The guests attach a white string around the house's owner and his family and then they bless them.
