BANGKOK, 26 July 2017 (NNT) – Thai students have brought back 2 gold and 3 silver medals from the 48th International Physics Olympiad, which took place in Yogyakarta of Indonesia.

Deputy Director of the Institute for the Promotion of Teaching Science and Technology (IPST) Polakrit Krichamaitree welcomed back the students who represented Thailand during the competition.

The gold medalists were Tisanaporn Moongmeephruet of Mahidol Wittayanusorn School and Natnicha Merin of Triam Udom Suksa School. The silver medalists were Athikom Wanichkul, Patin Inkaew and Siraphop Klinkajorn of Triam Udom Suksa School.

All of the winners and competitors are to receive supportive funding from the government for continued studies abroad until the doctorate level. Many generations of Thai students have been successful at the Olympiad, underlining Thailand’s strong mathematics and science education and its readiness for Thailand 4.0.
