Sophon Cable reported that an embarrassed local authority were in Soi VC in South Pattaya pulling down scaffolding that had been raining down on the street in recent storms.

Several stories had prompted the authorities to move in after lumps of corrugated iron, building materials and iron bars had fallen in the soi angering residents and tourists alike.

Fortunately no one was injured but it seemed only a matter of time as great lumps of material were filmed blowing around in the high winds of recent days.

The authority were in the soi all day Friday - a public holiday for HM the King's birthday - putting matters right and causing some big traffic jams in the area.

They intend to present the bill for the work to Tyrano Construction - the company that has the contact to pull down the Boutique Hotel ordered demolished due to illegal extension.

There is enough to concern pedestrians on the pavements without having to worry about debris falling from the sky. Good work by Sophon TV. Better late than never from the Council.

Wonderfully Thai all round. An illegally constructed hotel that then becomes a danger to the public due to shoddy demolition practises.

If they block off motor traffic, then it might be safe.... if not too many low hanging wires, metal spikes sticking out of sidewalk, etc etc etc

Unseen hand of the good Gen' at work here excercising those all encompassing s44 powers he so generously awarded himself .. Gotta protect the kingdoms unblemished repution from being sullied by those irresponsible decadent Western newspapers publishing their scandalous stories about dangerous Thailand sorry Amazing Thailand .. And  extra good merit has been accrued for the next visit to the house of Worship by making the demolition contractors  pick up the tab though I suspect they wont be leaving a tip .. ( do Thai's tip other Thai's or is that expectancy reserved for foreigners only .? ) .. ?

Good, now we can all get safely to the dirty, black beach.

Use your common sense..really...

Sophon Cable for mayor!  (Has he got a brother Vince in UK?)
