General Wanlop Rugsanao

The Cabinet yesterday named General Wanlop Rugsanaoh as the new secretary-general of the National Security Council (NSC).

Wanlop will succeed Thawip Netniyom, who will retire on September 30.

“I am sure there will be no opposition against the new man,” Thawip said.

Wanlop is now the head of the Defence Ministry’s Office of Policy and Planning.

Thawip said Defence Minister and Deputy Prime Minister General Prawit Wongsuwan would decide to which post the current NSC deputy secretary-general Somkiat Sriprasert would be assigned.
