BANGKOK — Four days into a massive flooding crisis that has killed 11 across much of the country, prime minister and junta leader Prayuth Chan-ocha said Tuesday he would visit the affected region.

Following criticism his government has been slow to take action and indifferent to the suffering, Prayuth told reporters at Government House today that he has been waiting for the right time to go himself.

Condolence to the 11 deaths. This should not be linked to the junta late warning and slow response to the seriousness of the flood.

Reading in the other newspaper that the army has old boats, but that there are new boats in a center. But some of these were not running (bad maintenance) and others were standing by to be deployed in other area's i find it a bad excuse and the guy responsible should be fired. What is it with maintenance in this country. Make sure your stuff is working..

I suspect, they get a budget for buying boats (skim of it) and then have no budget left to maintain them.

Lets face facts..controlling the weather is impossible..hence you get natural disasters globally.
If my home country the UK was hammered with the same torrential rain..things would be exactly the same.
3 inches of snow or rain and the whole country grinds to a halt.

Wait...what?

No one asks for Thailand to control the weather!

All everybody asks, is that they learn from what's been happening in this country since...well...the dawn of mankind and prepare for s41t!

If my grandma had wheels, she'd be a bus!

What - when there's a drought?

Prayut, put on your big boy galoshes and go the the stricken areas. Your public is standing (under water) by.

Prayuth told reporters at Government House today that he has been waiting for the right time to go himself.

You mean waiting for the rain to stop as he does not want to mess up his hair, if he takes the consort I recommend appropriate dress of pink wellies, pink plastic wrap and pink brollie with a touch of cream it should help calm the gods and subdue their anger a little bit.

And whatever you do - don't wear Burberry Wellies.
Absolute kiss of death politically as I recall...
