BANGKOK — Police said Thursday they were looking for up to three suspects who stabbed a student from a rival college to death in downtown Bangkok. Chanon Chuankhunthod, 20, was killed after a fight broke out in front of the popular MBK Center shopping mall Tuesday. Another student was wounded. Chanon was the latest fatality in the long and bloody history of student gang warfare successive governments have tried – and failed – to stamp out. The main problem is an inability to understand and deal with the situation. Stupidity is one word for it. Ignorance is another... Sometimes we see our kids do something we don't like and react in a way that suggests we don't understand (What are you doing?) when we really do understand and just don't want to get involved. If they close down ALL the Thai colleges, surely the population are likely to come out better educated for it.
snowgard
The main problem is that no one do enough against it. If the schools/universitys kick out all aggressors direct and no other school/university took they back want help a lot. Schools not accept it must be closed. At next put everyone who wanna be a aggressor for minimum 3 years, if run with weapons around for 5 years, body harm for 7 years and killings for lifetime in prison. And if the court rules out this penalties in all news & TV with full face pictures let end this stupid way of rivality. farcanell
Maybe shutdown MBK, or all businesses within a five k radius of all colleges for a two hour period starting at the end of the college day. ?
Get Real
That´s what you can expect when people not grow to an adult and responsible stage before 35-40, if ever! Good move to shut down the college. Think about shutting down all of them, before it happens again. Out of the learning aspect it doesn´t matter. People don´t seem to learn anything important in school anyway. Denim
High time 500 baht fines were doubled to 1000 baht. That would work wouldn't it. If not, once the assailants are apprehended they should get a firm smack on the hand and told if they don't stop being naughty their mums will be told. Draconian by Thai standards but necessary. They may well have done so and caused the problem. I can think of a couple of love signs that would do it for those as easily offended as many Thais are, particularly Tech college kids, just spoiling for a rumble.
