quick querry for a freind, i've tried to check the pattaya immigration site but can't find an accurate answer, anyway my freinds VOA is up tomorrow, his first one, so no problem there, but he will be back to work soon, so instead of doing a border run, he wants to know how long pattaya immigration will give him if he goes there tomorrow, eg 7, 10 or 14 days.

A quick accurate answer very much appreciated,

thank you

(VOA extension) The standard is 10 days.

Uh.. ??? :o

I know that Maestro is a visa expert, but are you certain of that ?

Visitors who enter the Kingdom with Visa on Arrival generally cannot file an application for extension of stay except in special cases...
is what I got from there : http://www.thaivisa.com/274.0.html

its one of those "TIT" things.apply for extention, pay your money, and get a refusal! this will give the extra days to leave the country.passport will be stamped with "extention not approved" but the extra days are given.

thanks for the replys, but the boy is a off shore boy, normally does 1 month in the mid-east then 1 month here but because of various reasons he has chosen to have a few months off work and enjoy his money here like he has done for the past 10 years , now apparantly this is is not possible for him, go figure???????

working in the mid-east on\off month on/off you come here for your month off now you decide to have 2/3 months here , before ok, now can not, again go figure???????

Every time I have gotten an extension at Pattaya immigration for a VOA they have given me 15 days for 1900 baht. About 10 times over the years.............

It has unfortunately become fashionable on the forum to use the abbreviation VOA (short for Visa On Arrival), when what people in fact are talking about is a visa exempt entry. The rules for the two are very different.

What the OP is referring to is probably a visa exempt entry, and that is what all the replies so far have been about. The link you have dug up is in regards to a true Visa On Arrival.

It would be nice if people would stop using the abbreviation VOA when they really mean visa exempt entry, but unfortunately I think that's unlikely to happen. I think at least 95 percent of the times VOA is used on this forum it's used incorrectly. I have noticed that even lopburi have given up on trying to correct people on this issue.
