A raiding party of police and soldiers descended on the beach area around the Asia Pattaya Hotel in Phratumnak yesterday.

They were acting on reports that several operators in the area have no right to be there, said Tnews.

A total of five establishments had no documents and were said to be encroaching on the beach.

They were given 30 days to dismantle their illegal properties. If they want an extension they would have to apply to the Pattaya authorities.

Several cases are tied up in legal wranglings at a Chonburi provincial level.

Really, and all the rest of the local lowlifes. That restaurant on the beach has a very nice atmosphere, the kind of place that is good for Thailand and very nice place to visit and relax.

Havent they got anything better to do ???

It's not as though they're going to need the extra space on the beach; if they don't clean-up the cesspit of a sea, nobody will be going there, although I expect the soi dogs could make use of it.

So from the landside the ignorant property owners are encraoching and from the seaside the piles of sh_ai_t and other crap is encroaching leaving a gorgeous beach for the tourists.

And yet again a few people complain about others and the government is jumping into action.

Keep the clean up of Pattaya going and don't ease up until this toilet is cleansed of all the filth and corruption.  The place is an extreme blight on Thailand and spoils Thailand as a whole.  This is the best work the junta has done in their time, getting the brush out and cleaning Thailand's sewer.

Such a nice looking place, fitting in perfectly with it,s surroundings, and doubtless enjoyed by many patrons. Why not kill 2 birds with one stone, arrive at a suitable (symbiotic) annual fee paid to Pattaya City, and just leave it there ?

This is the purpose of the exercise in the first place.

Do you think these guys care anything about encroachment or cleaning up Pattaya's image?

Well there are a lot of places with nice atmospheres out over the sea in the Pattaya area, illegally constructed is land theft, and over the beach it is theft from a high person. The free for all (which is actually a free for some people in authority) needs to be addressed.

I don't know the place that was targeted but from the photo it doesn't look like it is full of filth. Perhaps you have an overactive imagination!

Land encroachment is rife in Thailand. Beaches, roads, sidewalks, parks, etc. you name it if it's public land some private individual has encroached on it. Well done lads but it is but the tip of a very large iceberg.
