Hi all,

I got a new passport with me and I need to do visa run tomorrow. I've done 2 visa exemptions this year with my old passport, one in Laos border and another in Poipet. Any idea if it's possible for me to get another visa exemption with my new passport?

I would not count on it !  The immigration computer will link the two passports and reveal your total history.

Why not apply for a tourist visa at a nearby Thai embassy/consulate?

Obtaining a new passport only changes your ID number.

Your name, nationality and DOB will still alert Immigration to your previous history.

..which means, I will probably not be able get another visa exemption?

I don't really have time. Tomorrow's Sunday, and if I go to Thai embassy, I have to spend at least 2 days :(

well, fingers crossed. I hope I can get another visa exemption

Your chances of getting another visa exempt entry by land is very low. Almost your only chance is a glitch in immigration's system which causes your old and new passports not to be linked in their system. If you do decide to try it, make sure you have a backup plan.

As already suggested, an in/out by air would give you a better chance, though immigration takes a jaundiced view of back-to-back visa exempts, even by air,.

If you are discreetly working, explain to your employer that you have no choice but to take two days off to deal with immigration formalities, and get a tourist visa. (If difficulty taking time off work is the reason for not applying for a tourist visa, do not admit it on this board.)

Why not fly in.

The 2 Visa exempt entries only apply to land borders.

was thinking about flying in, but if I can do it by land borders, means I can save some cash

I'd fly out/in if I were you. Your previous entries will almost certainly be seen by the IO. If you're going to try don't use Poipet. Nong Khai or Mukdahan would be better choices as close to an embassy/consulate if you need to get a visa after being denied entry.
