webfact Posted August 7, 2017 Posted August 7, 2017 Bangkok firefighters battle blaze at storage yard BANGKOK: -- Dozens of tanks containing leftover paint and thinner solvent, which were kept in a storage yard in Bangkok’s Nong Chok district, caught fire on Sunday night. Nobody was injured as the fire occurred on deserted land in Klong Sib subdistrict. It started at about 9pm. Some 20 fire crews took about one hour to bring the blaze under control. The scene of the fire is about 30 metres from a community. The yard has no buildings. But it has dozens of 200-litre tanks that had contained the paint and solvents. Local residents said the tanks had been kept there for over two years. Lieutenant Thanongsak Loiha, inspector of Lamhin Police Station, said local residents saw several migrants drinking near the yard and they left shortly before the fire occurred. He said the fire might have been started by a discarded cigarette. Source: http://www.nationmultimedia.com/detail/breakingnews/30323033 -- © Copyright The Nation 2017-08-07
