BANGKOK: -- The Air Force commander-in-chief on Wednesday said his office would seek legal action against the operator of a drone that flew in the vicinity of the Air Force airport, for violating the Confidential Information Act.

Air Chief Marshal Chom Rungsawang was responding to a video clip on social media network, which showed a bird’s-eye view of the Air Force airport shot using the drone’s camera. He did not identify the airport.

He said he had already assigned his legal team to seek action against the drone operator.

He also referred to a separate case in which a white drone was found flying over Don Mueng International Airport at a height of 3,000 feet, in excess of the height drones are allowed to fly.

“That drone could have posed a danger to aircraft, caused an accident and even led to loss of lives and damage to property,” he said.

The Air Force will seek legal prosecution of that drone’s operator, he said.

Without offering details, Chom said the Air Force has “special armaments” to block any drone from entering the Air Force compound.

yes, a stealth sling shot.

If they fly drones like they drive cars only a matter of time before an aircraft is brought down

The air force has !! special armaments !! to block any drone from entering the air force compound.

Well why didnt they use them?

Just more hot air from a man spouting nonsense.

Does the unedited video show men in uniform taking 6 shots to get out of sand traps? That would really affect national insecurity.

It is (of course) perfectly safe to fly drones at lower-heights, in the vicinity of a major commercial-airport, as passenger-jets never fly low even when landing & taking-off ?

Are they worried that people might stop assuming they have aircraft?

Actually, I always assumed they build hangars instead of buying aircraft so that aerial shots will show all the places built for keeping aircraft.

Strange really. When holidaying in the U.K. outside the towns it's pretty common to hear military jets flying around. If you go to Wales you'll often catch a pair blasting through a valley and scaring the bejeebies out of you.

It never happened here - I guess they have special 'stealthy' technology to match the superb hi-tech 'drone defence system'.

what ever the reason the Gov. is very worried they have brought out new laws, one of them very interesting no private person will be allowed to fly a drone with a camera, who is trying to hide what?

Were the drone operators illegally transporting supporters of the overthrown PM to Bangkok?

7 seconds on Google gets you a bird's eye view of a major Thai airbase - the PNG is higher resolution than this JPEG version.  I know it's not the point but instead of "droning" on about confidentiality and blubbering about secret anti-drone weapons,  just say it's a safety issue and leave it at that.

How can they say it is a safety issue when they are so mentally challenged they have no idea of risk assessment.  Bunch of bleating buffoons in uniform.

Drones around airports are a danger, and those who do not know that are idiots!

The airforce need to find the owner and charge hime and take away the drone.

Geezer
