TOKYO (Reuters) - Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe sent a ritual offering to the Yasukuni shrine for war dead on Tuesday to mark the anniversary of Japan's World War Two surrender, but did not visit in person, an apparent effort to avoid upsetting China and South Korea.

SEOUL/WASHINGTON (Reuters) - North Korea's leader has delayed a decision on firing missiles towards the U.S. territory of Guam while he watches the actions of the United States a little longer, the North's state media said on Tuesday, as Washington warned it would take out any missile heading for the Pacific island.

PHUKET: -- Rescue workers were called to catch two large snakes in Phuket yesterday (Aug 14). One was pulled out from under a truck while the other was caught curled up on a roof beam inside a house.

British trio sentenced to 5½- 6½ years with caning for aggravated molestation
