Nonghan for information is some 30 odd kilotmetres from Changwat Udon Thani, not exactly local to most Udonites.

Thks!

Carrefour was bought by Big C many years ago. Another Thai industry that has a monopoly and are hosing the consumers.

Sorry, monopoly?

There are several other supermarket chains in Thailand.

Prices are hiked though in all of them, way beyond import duties and shipping.

Two super stores...Big C and Tesco.

2 chains colluding, that's not a monoply?

Monopoly would be one chain and you still have MAKRO - in most Provincial capitals and 7/11 all over the country

But you not so wrong - more diversity would be good.  :shock1:

I will check

On opening day, 11.8. - I passed by and it was same crazy - maybe they had some free give away ?

Whole area, no whole NONG HAN was fully parked with cars - no space - I could not get to ATM so much traffic!

Even 2-3 days later - no parking space - I will go when it quiets down!  :shock1:

The usual stampede when a new shopping center opens.

Indeed useless in the first few days.

Maybe you find empty shelves

You didn't teach me much, just an update on takeovers.

ThaiBev are a bunch of thieves, ask Carlsberg.

I do shop at BigC but don't buy much.

So, are you going to tell me who owns Tesco, Foodland, Makro, MaxValue and Tops etc?

Google is wonderful!

A misunderstanding - I know  a lot - but how you proof your opponent that you are right and him wrong in older times without a Smartphone and Internet and Google in it?

Carry a Encyclopedia - 20+ books - upgraded every year with you around? lol  :thumbsup::wink:

The internet makes things easy.

Back in the stone age we had to remember things.

It is funny how cashiers are surprised I know what the bill is before they scan it in, and the change from what I give them when I don't have the exact change.

I don't take well to being patronised my friend.

If your aim on here is to correct people using Google I suggest you leave me out of the game thank you very much.

LOL, I did not do that another Thai Visa member did that possibly -

Google or the Internet is only the confirmation of your knowledge to people who think in a different direction or come to a other conclusion

still you did not answer -

how you proof your opponent that you are right and him wrong in older times without a Smartphone and Internet and Google in it?

Remembering things? - does not help you - when in a discussion your opponent believes he is right and you are wrong!

We say

"Expertise on the subject of the discussion is the last thing you need in a discussion - you have to discuss and argue so well,

until the opponent acknowledges your point of view as the right one!"  lol

As I said, you seem to think this is a debating contest where you can use the search engines on the internet to "proof" a point. In any debating chamber you will not have that facility.

We are talking about a new supermarket way up north, not the House of Commons, the Mother of Parliaments.

I have passed on my comments to bberry now, as I was distracted by your arrogance before and had not replied to his posts.

I wish you well in your relationships with other people with an attitude like that.

lol you right

I come to the conclusion you are -unreasonable- therefore I keep that sentence in mind.

Never argue with unreasonable people, they will drag you down to their level and beat you with experience!

You might Google faster than I can but I am far from unreasonable.

Experience is invaluable, to right it off as you do is the folly of youth.

Have you left home, been to a supermarket, or done your own washing yet?

The "millennials" are the walking dead, slaves to the mighty smart phone and algorithms that determine your life .

I worry that in 20 years people like you will struggle to cope with life never mind govern.

Tops is a good supermarket by the way, please recommend it to your mother.

G'night, watch out for the monsters under the bed. (Recognise how it is to be patronised now, or maybe your dad does that anyway as he should.)
