Any Mountain

Featured Replies

Hi guys, I'm coming CM end of this month....yeah!!! Is there any mountain to climb other than Doi Intanon and Doi Suthep?

Uh, isn't there a map somewhere on web, laddy?

try doi luang chiang dao, in chiang dao district, about 60-90 minutes north of chiang mai. there's a very good system in place in which villagers guide you and work as porters. in fact, they don't allow people to just walk up the mountain unaccompanied, because its' possible to get lost, and there is no water. plus, the locals make sure that visitors keep the place clean. you can contact them at one of the guest houses at the foot of the hill.

Climb DOi suthep . is not really a Mountian is like a hill with winding roads and notthing to Climb really .

trek maybe

Great advice.

Cheaper if you go to the CHIANG DAO WILDLIFE SANCTUARY OFFICE in Chiang Dao and get yourself your permit there yourself. As long as you have a tent, sleeping bag, hiking boots, food and water, you can just rent a carrier to take you up there, which is your cheapest option.

More info and pics at the following website on how to organize it on your own:

PM me for more information about how to organize it on your own.

There are also organized trekks at various guesthouses and resorts, if you want to go with other people, but shop around, prices vary. Cheaper if you book it once you get to Chiang Dao, I think. It only costs 40 Baht by songtheaw or bus to get out here and they will let you off anywhere along the highway, if you ask them to.

Most mountains aren't about climbing. Some of the best motorway roads in the country run all the way up to Doi Suthep and Doi Inthanon.

If you're talking about climbing then there ARE rock climbing tours/treks to be booked around town.
