BANGKOK: -- Pheu Thai party core member Watana Muangsook was on Monday (Aug 21) given a suspended jailterm and fined 500 baht for using Facebook live in the courtroom.

Accompanied by his lawyer, the former commerce minister reported himself to the police at the Technology Crime Division to submit his written testimony in a case in which he was charged with inciting unrest in accordance with Section 116 of the Criminal Code and with violation of the Computer Act for posting statement in his Facebook page which was deemed incitement of public to give moral support to former prime minister Yingluck Shinawatra.

Mr Watana was later escorted by the police to the Criminal Court to seek court’s order for his detention. He protested the police request for his detention.
