I messed up. Been in Thailand off and on for the last 3+ years and have done 2 trips to Vientiane and 2 trips to PP to get my 60 Day Visas. No problems at all...

I live in Jomtien & returned from the USA in late June with a brand new passport and thought I would try Savannakhet for my 60 Day Tourist because I heard it was an "easy" deal.

Well... I'm here now and they're asking for sorts of stuff that I've never had to give. Bank funds, onward flight and something else... my mind went foggy by the time he got to the 3rd thing because I just realized that most of my funds are in my Paypal account.

Will they take a copy of my Paypal account showing 20k as a bank account? If not, then I have to transfer funds from my Paypal to my bank and I'm stuck here over the weekend with just 1 pair of clothes (AND WILL MISS THE MCGREGOR FIGHT TO BOOT).

If they won't take my Paypal statement, I'm seriously considering taking the next bus to Vientiane. Is Vientianne asking to show funds now???

Damn it. I can't believe I didn't check this first. I'm so used to them not asking and figuring since this place is so "easy", I didn't even think about it.

Help. What would you do?

I am sure they will accept a printout of your Paypal account as long as it shows the equivalent of 20k baht being available in it.

Savanahket started asking for these newer requirements awhile back.

Get a hotel-booking online (free), a copy of your paypal-statement showing the equivalent of 20K Baht, and proof of a flight out of the country.  You can use the flight for your next Visa-run, if needed - maybe a flight to Penang, which is what I did the last time I was there.

Worst case - Vientiane doesn't ask for these extra things.  There is a bus to Vientiane - approx 9-hours, some going overnight - claimed to be "VIP" but I haven't taken it, and sometimes "VIP" can be misleading.  If it isn't a 3-seat across bus, so you can get a roomy seat by itself, I'd buy 2 adjacent seats, if traveling alone (what I do in Cambodia), so you can have a bit of privacy, spread out and relax.

This issue has been posted many times. But good luck to the OP.

Yeah, I missed it. And after finding an Internet café to download and print all the info, I get to the consulate aaaand  they're closed (11am). I'm here til Monday now. Faaaaack....

That's what I get for assuming and not double-checking.

Off subject, but does anyone know any good sites online to watch the McGregor fight? No place in this town will be showing it.
