Sky stops broadcasting Fox News in UK

Sky is to stop broadcasting Fox News in the UK after low audience figures, the media firm has said.

21st Century Fox, which is owned by Rupert Murdoch, said the channel was being withdrawn as it was not commercially viable.

The decision was not related to Fox's takeover bid for Sky, a source told the BBC. Culture secretary Karen Bradley has previously said she may refer the bid to competition regulators.

FN is about influencing internal politics, and truth be damned.  Maybe Murdoch is concerned that UK has stricter laws involving false reporting and prefers to not spend so much on litigation.  That business about "no-go zones" in European cities is just a sample.

Your comment is a perfect illustration as to why Fox draws audiences in the US, but not on Sky in the UK.

Actually while it may be and easy bandwagon to jump onto for those with vague belief in the default politics of today (a kind of lukewarm leftist politics of identity ) Fox news is no better or worse than any other channel and at least invites those with opposing views on to the show and gives them an opportunity to share their point of view.

The presenters are also rather attractive and that's no small thing in the feminist gulags of Europe and the USA.

It's never been Fox "News". It has always been Fox Views. Especially, the comedic team of O'Reilly and Hannity.

Now, one's gone and the other has his foot half way out the door after aggressively promoting fake news for which he,

and the network had to apologize and subsequently had to retract the story.

Fox News To Add ‘For Entertainment Purposes Only' Disclaimer

"Fox News will begin airing a disclaimer later this month, declaring that its programming is “for entertainment purposes only,” according to sources close to the cable channel."

"Several individuals inside Fox Entertainment Group, Fox News Channel’s parent company,

say the decision was made in order to shield the network from possible legal liabilities."

"Fox News Channel CEO Roger Ailes has agreed to a proposal to add a "for entertainment purposes only" disclaimer

on Fox programming, sources say."

Fox News sees biggest ratings slump in 17 years as Donald Trump contradictions go unreported

"Fox News largely avoided covering Trump's revelation of classified information to Russian officials, along with his leaning on James Comey and his four-part, fundamentally contradictory change in explanation for the FBI director's firing."

"In the coveted advertising demographic of 25-54 year-olds, Fox News fell to third place during prime-time last week,

behind a surging MSNBC in first and CNN in second."

"Meanwhile, Fox anchor Sean Hannity was slammed this week for peddling conspiracy theories about the murder of

Democratic National Committee employee Seth Rich, theories which subsequently fell apart."

"Objective viewers have long ago concluded that Fox News is not, and never has been, a legitimate news network. They began as a project by right-wing propagandist Rupert Murdoch and Republican media strategist Roger Ailes to spread disinformation and promote GOP politicians. And for the past 17 years they have carried out that mission with a roster of rabidly partisan hosts broadcasting provable lies.

So according to Ailes, he regards channels that are plainly entertainment and sports as his competition, not other news outlets."

Not sure about the Brit version of Fox. But studies of Fox News and other news viewers in America have shown that people who watch Fox are even less informed than people who watch NO NEWS. So I don't know what balance Fox viewers are getting, but they certainly aren't getting informed.

Trouble is, today people tend to only watch, listen or read the media that conforms to their world view, There would be nothing wrong with FN if people looked at it as part of a balanced diet of what they see.

But, they don't and so FN successfully dragged the entire industry into the depths of what I call 'entertainment news'. Punditry masquerading as news is a cancer in the society, but lets not forget it's all driven by $$ very little to do with ethics or truth.

So if there is a Heaven or Hell, I hope there is a rather special place in Hell carved out for Roger Ailes....and in the fullness of time he can be joined by Rupert Murdoch

Only brainwashed idiots watch FOX news, including the President.

Hang on a minute.  When I moved here and first saw Fox news, I was fascinated - in the same way I was initially fascinated by Blind Date.  Just how low can programmes go??

It's possible that this move is due to lack of viewers - but more likely a result of commercial/political reasons which, at the end of the day, boil down to money.
