I am leaving the country next week and seem to have lost my TM6 Departure Card.  The visa service that I have been using was able to extend my retirement visa earlier this year and do my 90 day check ins - so I do have my TM6 number from the departure card.  I just don't have the departure card itself.  Neither the visa service or Chiang Mai Immigration has been able to tell me whether I need to get a new departure card before leaving.  They just say I need to check with Suvarnabhumi.  I don't want to get up to the immigration check-in and then find out that I need to have a new departure card.  Does anyone know if I do need to get a new departure card, and if so, where would I go to get one?  Thank You in advance.

Don't worry. Last week I showed up at the bridge in Nong Khai and realized I left mine at home on my desk. They gave me a new one and filled the departure card out and they stamped me out of country. It was very simple!

They will give you one when you check in for your flight out to to complete before going to departure immigration. People lose them all the time.

You might need one if you went to some immigration offices to get one. Not needed when leaving the country.

I would just suggest not just grabbing a new one yourself ... let them give you one. They may think you are trying something shady if you do it yourself as the number will not match up with their records.  As pointed out already absolutely no big deal when leaving the country as the immigration officer will just give you another to fill out as you are leaving.

I have lost mine at least a couple times over the years and never an issue and never a raised eyebrow when departing ... just step aside at the counter to let the next person in line go through as you fill out your new card they give you.

Thinking about it... I probably needed it for my 90day reporting.

Of no help to the OP, but it's a good idea to take a photo of the new visa or stamp and the departure card and e mail it to yourself. How many people bother to remember the departure card number?

It used to be a big deal and I know someone who lost his passport with said card.  Immigration then showed him the sea containers where the retrieved cards were stored and told him he had to find the original.  Of course there were a couple of people willing to assist for a fee.

Then two years ago I left mine at home as was not stapled into the passport and got all the way to Swampy and oh <deleted>.  Asked the immigration people and they gave me a new one to fill in and Mai Pen Lai answer.  So about 3 years ago or so they stopped stapling the departure card into the passport, it seems at that point in time the realised as long as they had you logged on computer leaving the entry bit did not need to correlate.

So short answer does not really matter.  Do I try and keep the original, yes, force of habit.  Does it matter if lost, no.

Cheers

Have lost mine at least 4 times that i can remember never a problem. I just pick a new one up fill it in hand it in. I dont even bother telling them any more i put old tm6 number on  if they ask why  i tell them but they dont.. In fact i always have spàres in my thailand folder paperwork.

^ +1 to that

I have spares as always easier pre fill one and just use one issued out as spare replacement. Not lost one yet but wouldn't be bothered about adding one myself . possibly different story if going immigration office though pending on how many lucky mai ben rai's the big buddha granted you for that day lol .

Some officers get real moody over minor paperwork details while working in complete chaotic ignorance themselves so got choose you options and words wisely or can go sour lol .

ok.....I arrived here with a METV, which allows me 60 days upon entry. I plan on doing a visa run to cambodia (via local van..etc) My departure card was lost at the bank when they copied my passport to make deposit...Inquired as to where my departure card is and of course...nothing. I went to police station and have a form they filled out that is now stapled to my passport.  MY question...and PLEASE, I do not need conjecture, opinions...I think, etc. Does anyone have first hand knowledge if I can make visa run without a problem???

It will not be a problem. Immigration on departure from the country will have fill out a new one for them to keep.
