snoop1130
Jailed Boonsong suffers high blood pressure By The Nation File photo: Boonsong Teriyapirom Convicted former commerce minister Boonsong Teriyapirom sought medical treatment late on Tuesday night after he developed a severe headache, which turned out to be a symptom of high blood pressure, the Corrections Department chief said on Wednesday. Korbkiart Kasiwiwat, Corrections director general, said the Klong Prem Central Prison where Boonsong is being detained, has no medical treatment facility, so he had to seek help from doctors at the Central Prison Hospital, which is next door. Korbkiart said Boonsong informed prison guards that he had a headache, so he was allowed to go to the hospital, which has a connecting door with the prison. It was found that he had developed high blood pressure, with a systolic level of 160 (compared to the normal level of 120). Doctors believe this was caused by stress. The department chief added that Boonsong might be worried too much or might not be able to accept his situation. Korbkiart said prison officials would try to help Boonsong resign to his fate. Boonsong has been sentenced to a 42-year jail term for faking government-to-government rice export deals, resulting in Bt16-billion financial damage to the state during the previous government’s implementation of its rice-pledging scheme. He is also subject to making reparations worth around Bt1.7 billion. tomwct
Wow! This is normal for a convicted frauder! Give him a pill and send him back to his cell! Only 41 years and 360 days left! He should be planning his cremation because that's his future! Edited August 31, 2017 by tomwct Add more detail.
IamNoone88
42 years in jail and high blood pressure should be the least of his concern.

Has he appeals the sentence, he gets pressure from the government to spill the beans (and do a deal) and a warning from a PTP colleague that "some stories must die with us". This isn't the end of his problems, just the beginning. As his patron is Yingluck's big sister then he may have some big beans to spill too! CGW
160? probably half the population of Thailand will be close to that number!
geriatrickid
Perhaps the gentleman was not taking his medication? 160 is moderately high and is easily treated through 3 lifestyle changes; 1. Tobacco use cessation 2. Reduced salt intake 3. Increased exercise. He looks rather slim for a man of his age so that's a plus and I doubt he is a smoker. Less salt should drop his BP 10-20 pts. This combined with meds will do the trick,

Gunna
High blood pressure caused by stress of threat of death for himself and his family if he spills the beans. Once he starts talking it will cause a chain reaction of bean spilling. Also worried if the authorities find the rest of the stash of money from his illegal deals. I don't suppose in addition to a life in Klong Prem, having a fine of 1,700,000,000 baht is helping his blood pressure much?

robertson468
His difficulty is, do I spill the beans and put my life and the life of my Family in danger and parhaps get a much reduced sentence, or do I just button up and accept my present sentence?
