PHUKET:-- Phuket Provincial Police Commander Maj Gen Teeraphol Thipjaroen has today (Sept 1) declined to comment on whether three high-ranking police officers, who in May were transferred pending an investigation into allegations of corruption and malfeasance, have been cleared of the allegations made against them after The Phuket News learned that the three have since been reinstated to their original positions.

On May 29, Maj Gen Teeraphol ordered the transfer of Phuket City Police Chief Col Kamol Osiri and Phuket City Police Deputy Commanders Lt Col Chao Phomna and Lt Col Nat Phromthep after the officers came under investigation for failing to effectively perform their duties, notably failing to protecting (against) and suppress crime and possible involvement in crime.

The transfers were in accordance with Royal Thai Police regulations and were ordered in order to prevent any damage to the government and to ensure a fair investigation, said the order.

Saves having to refund the position buying payments!

Or the investigation concluded that the correct share of money made by corrupt activities was passed on to superiors therefore nothing untoward had occurred. Reinstatement will ensure the money keeps flowing in the correct direction and the officers in question were found to be of outstanding quality in assisting to uphold the the main functions of the RTP.

Refunding paid position money?

Not refunding money even if due is not part of the culture.

They should be well rested after their inactive post and ready to resume their collection duties?

Well Teeraphol has just made sure his pension pot will get substantially bigger.

The 3 reinstated officers will now be passing on larger amounts his way.

The major doesn't look too impressed with the cat being out of the bag.

Nothing screams "corruption" louder than the silence of refusal to provide an explanation.

Or from the strain of missing out on his commissions from these outstanding officers while inactive.

Ho hum, back to business as usual?

Come on, at least in the US they report that an investigation was done and the officers were found not guilty, even if they were filmed breaking the law.

It a bloody joke Col Who say's crime don't pay Here in Thailand it does pay. Yep he was just making sure from now on that they show their gratitude by making their share of corrupt money 70% his way 30% their way Who cleared them anyway? Somebody appointed by this Teeraphol and you can bet he will be in on the deal

It's quite simple really... They all pi*s in the same pot. One Thai policeman can't bring down another because he got to where he is by the exact same method. Phuket is the cradle of corruption.

It will be interesting to see if the military has something to say about this.

We have noted that they stick their noses into things like this, let us hope so.

this guy is a classic (and good photo to that effect); not only did he not anticipate that someone would notice his actions, he could not even issue the standard idiotic excuses; corrupt AND stupid

well, he spared us the irrational, lame excuses; all the while exposing what the 'inactive posts' are all about; astonishingly the thai police achieve new lows

Reinstating villains with villains what else could you recommend?

Very often to get their snouts in the trough!

His silence speaks volumes.

Wouldn't be surprised if the three high ranking offices said to him, "If you let us go down, we're taking you with us."

Thus, their reinstatement.  They must have a lot of "dirt" on the good Maj Gen.
