France Launches Investigation Team to Probe Epstein Files

French prosecutors have formed a special team to investigate the implications of Jeffrey Epstein's activities, focusing on potential involvement of French nationals. This step follows the release of documents revealing links between Epstein and prominent French figures.

Central to this investigation is Jean-Luc Brunel, a former modeling agency executive and close Epstein associate, who died in custody in 2022. Although charges against Brunel were dismissed posthumously, allegations persist regarding his involvement in sexual exploitation of underage girls in the US, Virgin Islands, Paris, and southern France.

The Paris prosecutor's office, in collaboration with the national financial crimes unit and police, is examining evidence to potentially open new investigations. The objective is to identify usable evidence within this new investigative framework.

Three specific cases have emerged from the recent US Department of Justice document release, involving a French diplomat, a modeling agent, and a musician. The French foreign ministry has requested scrutiny into diplomat Fabrice Aidan, mentioned in the Epstein files. An investigation is underway to gather evidence substantiating his involvement.

Swedish model recruiter Daniel Siad faces allegations from a Swedish woman claiming he committed acts she described as rape in France in 1990. Meanwhile, French conductor Frédéric Chaslin is accused of sexual harassment stemming from an incident in 2016.

These developments have resulted in significant action against individuals associated with Epstein's network. Former French minister Jack Lang's name appeared linked to Epstein, prompting his resignation from the Arab World Institute. Lang denies wrongdoing but is subject to a preliminary investigation for "aggravated tax fraud and money laundering," involving both him and his daughter Caroline Lang.

Epstein, who died in prison in 2019 awaiting trial for child trafficking, continues to have far-reaching impacts through ongoing investigations into his network. This special team aims to ensure thorough examination of all evidence, pursuing justice for involved parties and addressing international criminal dynamics.
