Iranian Strikes Damage US Warplanes at Jordan Base

Multiple American military aircraft were damaged during Iranian strikes overnight Tuesday into Wednesday local time at Muwaffaq Salti Air Base in Jordan, CBS News reported, citing people familiar with the damage who spoke anonymously.

A-10 And F-15 Damage Levels

The sources said an A-10 Thunderbolt, also known as the Warthog, was hit and lost a wing.

They also reported that around eight F-15 aircraft suffered light damage and were put back into service, according to the same people briefed on the damage.

No US deaths were reported as a result of the strikes on Jordan, the report added.

Background To The Overnight Attacks

The damage at the Jordan base followed an announcement by the United States on Tuesday that it had attacked five Iranian tankers. The US said the action was retaliation for Iran targeting a US Navy warship.

In response, Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps said it launched attacks on eight tankers and two warships, and it said those included the base in Jordan.

Patriot Missile Defence

The CBS report said US forces in Jordan launched more than 30 Patriot missiles to defend against the Iranian strikes.

It also noted that CBS News previously reported US officials were concerned about a rapidly declining stockpile of Patriot missiles, alongside other types of precision munitions.

Trump Comments On Iran And The US Midterms

Separately, President Donald Trump told reporters on Wednesday that he believes Iran is trying to influence the US midterm elections. He also suggested the conflict would end after the vote, saying Iran could not sustain the situation until then.

Trump added that he was not looking to negotiate with Iran in the near term, prior to the midterms, despite saying at one point he wanted to reach a deal.

This is obviously fake news as all Iran's offensive capabilities have been destroyed completely several times in the last few weeks and America controls the region absolutely and completely.

Could you show where this has been said? I'd like to see it.

To be fair, the link is to an Aseannow re-written article rather than the original source, which seems to be CBS.

Indeed and nowhere in it @josephbloggs does it mention the US saying "all Iran's offensive capabilities have been destroyed completely .... and America controls the region absolutely and completely." so I ask again @josephbloggs could you show where this has been said? I'd like to see it.

Just more egg on the face of the Americans with this ridiculous Forever War, that the clown has started for no obvious reasons.

If there's one thing we know for certain this had nothing to do with nuclear weapons and this was always about something else. Is likely about punishment for Iran's efforts to de dollarize Petro dollars and to support BRICS.

Of course the administration knew that they could tell Americans anything and that they would buy it, as very few people question the official narrative. Ever.

Apparently they wasted more than 30 patriot missiles on it.

The Iranian attack required U.S. forces to fire roughly 30 Patriot interceptors to counter the missiles,

the U.S. official said, amid increasing concern about the inventory of U.S. air defense interceptors and other missiles.

WINNING !! 😄

So true.

All of this "WINNING !!" is going to kill us sooner rather than later.

Well, not to intrude, but Donald Trump has said several times that Irans offensive war capability has been destroyed, including its nuclear weapons capability being obliterated. Hegseth has said similar things several times.

I’m not going to trawl through for examples, they are plentiful and easily found if you want to look.

As to controlling the region, I think the original poster was making a sarcastic joke (which I personally found pretty funny) and over reached a bit. America hasn’t claimed to control the whole region. It HAS claimed to control the Straits of Hormuz, which is an international waterway and has also suggested renaming it Trump Straits.

All this stuff has been in headlines for the past months so it’s not hiding in some obscure article. The Hormuz renaming is pretty recent though.

Thank you. And yes, my initial post was sarcasm, I did not literally mean they had said that exact thing word for word. @dinsdale knows this of course and is merely being facetious.

But as you correctly say Trump has said similar several times as the post from @Emdog illustrates. Ridiculous bluster from Trump time and again.

But but we won this war.

But Trump says this is NOT A WAR, just a "conflict."

To that end the Pentagon is denying service people who participated in the Iran war and now leaving, veteran assistance that according to Hegseth because there was no war. So much for the Secretary of War.
