I know one place near Pratunam intersection opposite Pratunam Plaza. Also another food stall in Rangsit not far from the airport called Khaoman Gai Midnight. Any other place you'd recommend that serve good khaoman gai in and around Bangkok?

Yes, many Thai foodies agree this is the best in Bangkok. Khao man kai Midnight also has a strong following.

The pratunam place is probably Kaiton, one of my favorites.

I think my favorite is now from a cart on Sathupradit Road, at soi 25.

It's open mornings and evenings.

So is this place near Phukhao Thong the most popular/famous place for Bangkokians? But it's so hard to find a parking around there, I guess I can park my car at the Golden Mountain parking lot? And how long walk is it from the Golden Mountain? And if it's that famous I guess the locals there can tell me where Jae Yee if I ask them the direction? :D

Jae Yee is directly across the road from Wat Saket.

Look for this place:

jae_yee.jpg

I really liked her sauce, and her soup is possibly the best ever, but the chicken seemed underdone, like so many other "best" khao mun kai spots.

JumJim, in Rangsit, is another underdone chicken spot with quite a following.

I would say that the Sathupradit Road spot and Kaiton are comparable to each other.

Curt! You're such a Khaoman Gai critic!!

How many Khaoman Gai spots do you know!?

Have you been to Khaoman Gai Midnight in Rangsit?

If you have, how do you rate that place?

I and my wife tend to like it there more than Kaiton. Best cooked rice!

Where's your best khaoman gai spot?

BTW I also like Singapore style chicken rice at Montien Hotels (B200+ for a dish). Heard Singapore chicken rice are originally from Hainan island (China). Wonder if that's the roots of all chicken rice.

I love khao mun kai!

The only one I've tried around Rangsit is JumJim.

I'll have to check out Midnight at Rangsit.

While in Singapore, I tried chicken rice at a place called Pow Sing.

The rice was the best I've ever had.

It had a perfect consistancy and a slight "smokey" quality.

But, the chicken was a bit underdone and the sauce was so-so.

The khao man kai place at MBK was pretty good before the remodel.

I haven't tried it since.

My latest Jones is duck soup:

could never understand the appeal of khao man gai...in Suphan it's usually made with old laying hens that are tougher than old boots...only the broth served on the side is edible.

any comments from other central Thailand people (Boon?)

IMO, it's all about the rice and sauce.

Although I like mine cooked, the chicken is secondary.

Thanks! Attempting a much needed diet and you have got my taste buds going now, bet you can't guess what the good lady is preparing now?

Agreed, completely :D

A chicken rice with good cooked rice and sauce is still a good khaoman gai even without chickens.

So your new Jones is Kuay Tiaw Senyai Ped? Me and my wife's favorite too. :D

There's one place we know near Suang Luang market not far from National Stadium where it's full of food stalls and carts that serves great Kuaytiaw Ped :o

Hey Curt can you tell me more about the picture of the dessert on your site, the picture is dessert_700.jpg

It's called gui chai.

I should probably classify it as a snack.

It's not sweet, and it comes with "duck" soy sauce.

This photo was taken at Aw Taw Kaw (food) market, across KamphaengPhet from Chatuchak.

This is a "fancy" version of it

There are lots of fancy snacks to be found there.
