BigDook Posted July 26, 2004 Share Posted July 26, 2004 Hi I'm 26 and from the UK (Manchester) I have bought a one-way ticket thru Qatar Airways, and i phoned them today to check on a quick issue, and found out they might not let me board my flight in Manchester, as i don't have an onward/return ticket. I was planning on getting the 90 visa which you can apply for before you go, and costs £25, as that didn't seem to have a requirement of an onward/return ticket. Is this right?, i can't find ANY offical line on this, and don't want my trip to get ruined before it even starts. The reason i only have a one-way ticket, is because i want to travel around SEA, and then probably eventually buy a flight in Singapore or Bali onto Australia(which is my final destination). Only having a one-way ticket gives me plenty of freedom etc, and would only be tied down to Visa stay lengths. Thanks. Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
alex_4000 Posted July 26, 2004 Share Posted July 26, 2004 your airline will be responsible to take u back home if thai immigration doesnt permit you into the country. apparently some of them dont want to take the risk: technically this could happen, as there is a law that requires you to have an outbound-ticket but it is not enforced, meaning: immigration will not ask you to show it. this is especially true if you are flying in with a valid visa (=entry permit) already. showing sufficient founds to avoid getting stranded in thailand should make the officers happy - a valid credit card usually does the job. but all that wont help if the airline wont let you board in the first place... maybe try checking with their superiors if obtaining a visa upfront is good enough for them? good luck! The 30 day stay on arrival without visa is not available without onward confirmed reservations/ticket and this restriction is noted in the rules airlines follow. I got a visa from the Thai embassy in Hull to ensure there is no problem with this. I might call them again, and ask to speak to a supervisor etc, to get a proper answer, or maybe even ask for a copy of their regulations/requirements to fly. Thanks. Ok you have a couple of choices then , either get a single entry tourist visa (good for 60 day stay) or buy a train ticket down to Singapore from Bangkok http://www.seat61.com/Thailand.htm#Singapore if you scroll up the page it gives you booking instructions from outside Thailand. As long as you book it to exit Thailand within your 30 day on arrival stamp you/ll be ok.
