Someone raises the question: Babywalkers any advice ? would like one but keep hearing about how dangerous they are???

First: I am a psychological advisor. Working with professionals dealing with children ... ( and I am a father of a 15 years old daughter ;-)

My advise:

do destroy every babywalker you see - do it completely !

Don´t buy this shit !

and please

don´t put your poor baby inside !!!

why ?

If you want to know, what is the best for your baby try to get an idea, what mothers in the last 100 000 years before you

(right one hundred thousand years !) did with their babies.

because : they did it an a way, that you - about 5000 generations later exist !

f.e: 4990 mothers of these generations didnt use soap for their babies and 4999 did´nt use "babywalkers"

"babywalkers"

I have never see these shit today in my home country today in Europe. I think, because in my country, if you produce ore sell it, you are responsible for the damages it cause. I think there were some heavy accidents before so they stopped to sell them.

I have only see these "babywakers" in Southeastasia nowadays. You know why! Cause here, its´not a problem for producers ore resellers when babies die because of them !!!

To make it short:

Human beings walk, when they are able to do it. That´s OK. Its not OK if we try to force them to walk, before they can do it alone !

A baby is not a walker. In fact, a baby, in the beginning nearly cant do anything (beside suckling, pissing, shitting ...)

The brain at birth is not really full developed to work after birth. One say, the only reason the dont stay inside their mothers any longer is, because if they stay longer, their heads would be too big to come outside ! (no joke).

So beside of having a big head, it would be better for them, to stay 6 month more inside their mum !

Because there is no real good reason to stay outside just to piss, suckle and shit !

If you see other animal babies, normally they are much fitter, when they come "outside") (you know horses ? )

"babywalkers"

when it´s good for a baby it will crawl. It´s very important for a baby to crawl . Important for further development!

A bay has really soft bones ! Not like our bones. Not hard like our bones . Much softer.

For being able to walk, babies need harder bones, developed muscles and a developed brain (neuro-system).

If they have, what they need to walk, they will walk ! If they do it before (if you force them - thats what "babywalkers" do - you damage them ! )

And

it dangerous: When they are not able do walk alone, their brain isnt developed enough for the task of walking ?

Dont forget: They do not think like you do. they have nearly no idea of what is dangerous !

If they gave the "baby walker" a kick, they cant see what will happen next. f.e. They dont know, that if they go to a stairway that they will fall down to the next level, next floor. Only one step downwards (f.e. with a "babywalker" ) can kill you baby ! A baby is not able to stop before ! The baby even is not able to imagine what will happen, if it goes to the stairway with a babywalker.

sorry , I have to sleep now.

good luck !

Research has already shown that between 12% and 50% of infants using babywalkers are injured, mostly from falling down stairways and steps, but also from increased access to other potential hazards, such as fires and heaters.

But although just over half of the parents used babywalkers, they did not consider that their child was at greater risk head injury, fractures, bruises or burns.

One in five of those who used a babywalker did not have a stair gate.

More than 80% had been warned about safety issues by a paediatrician, but this advice appeared to carry little influence.!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Babywalkers 'stifle development: The study found that those who used a babywalker were slower to crawl, stand and walk than children who were left to develop the skills naturally.

Baby Walkers are Dangerous!

* Baby walkers send more than 14,000 children to the hospital every year.

* 34 children have died since 1973 because of baby walkers.

Children in baby walkers can:

* Roll down the stairs - which can cause broken bones and head injuries. This is how most children get hurt in baby walkers.

* Get burned - a child can reach higher when in a walker. A cup of hot coffee on the table, pot handles on the stove, a radiator, fireplace, or space heater are all now in baby's reach.

* Drown - a child can fall into a pool, bathtub, or toilet while in a walker.

* Be poisoned - reaching high objects is easier in a walker.

* Pinch fingers and toes - by getting them caught between the walker and furniture.

There are no benefits to baby walkers

You may think a walker can help your child learn to walk. But, in fact, walkers do not help children walk sooner. Also, some babies may get sore leg muscles from spending too much time in a walker. Most walker injuries happen while adults are watching. Parents and other caregivers simply cannot respond quickly enough. A child in a walker can move more than 3 feet in 1 second! Therefore, walkers are never safe to use, even with close adult supervision. Make sure there are no walkers at home or wherever your child is being cared for. Child care facilities should not allow the use of baby walkers.

If your child is in child care at a center or at someone else's home, make sure there are no walkers.

Throw out your baby walkers!

Try something just as enjoyable but safer, like:

* "Stationary walkers" - have no wheels but have seats that rotate and bounce.

* Play pens - great safety zones for children as they learn to sit, crawl, or walk.

* High chairs - older children often enjoy sitting up in a high chair and playing with toys on the tray.

As of July 1, 1997, new safety standards were implemented for baby walkers. Walkers are now made wider so they cannot fit through most doorways and can stop at the edge of a step. But these new walker designs will not prevent all injuries from walkers. They still have wheels, so children can still move fast and reach higher.

The American Academy of Pediatrics and the National Association for Children's Hospitals and Related Institutions (NACHRI) have called for a ban on the manufacture and sale of baby walkers with wheels.

Keep your child safe - throw away your baby walker !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
