I am about to embark on a full renovation of a large apartment in a condominium, with virtually everything there now, including most walls, to be torn out, and the whole place to be redone from scratch. I've never done this before, in Chiangmai or elsewhere, and am going to need lots of help.

I've searched the Forum and am confident I have found at least most of the existing threads and posts that have recommendations of interior contractors and constructors in Chiangmai.

I would like to have more recommendations, though, so if you have any that you have not already posted at some time in the last couple of years, could you please either post them here or send them to me in a PM?

I am especially interested in interior contractors --including others who go by a different title -- who are in the business of taking full responsibility for the design and implementation of projects like this, but I am interested too in construction contractors of different kinds who undertake only part of the work that will be needed, such as carpenters, electricians, plumbers and so on.

At least some English ability is a must, because my Thai is still so limited that I should not even suggest by using the phrase "my Thai" that I have any at all.

Many thanks in advance for any suggestions.

Try Nai Youngfellow, who speaks great English, of CMP (Chaingmai Properties) 089 7001368. Has a good crew of workers and has many resources to solve most problems.

There is a Lebanese architest and designer name Mohamad Jesr who has been in Chiang Mai for many years. His english and Thai are perfect and he has renovated and remodeled numerous condos, homes and businesses in town that you can look at. His design work is excellent, his prices are fair and his attention to detail is exceptionally high. If you are interested I can pm you his telephone and e-mail.

I have always used Kensington accept once and wish I had used them. They know what they are doing, are fair on price, speak English and take all the hassles and worries away from you. Built my house and several of my friends. We are all very pleased indeed. They do renovation works too.

Web site is www.chiangmaibuilders.com Chris is the guy to speak to and is very helpful and kind. Graeme is main construction guy and is very knowledgeable. Try them and see. Using the wrong company can be disastrous so be very careful. The lads at kensington are honest, fair and very giving of their time. Answer e-mails quickly, respond to questions and will always come back and sort probelms out if they occur. BThey are the favoured guys by most expats and long term residents in Chiang Mai. Hope it helps.

It helps to know exactly what you want. There are computer design programs that make the most use out of available space. But, it all depends on YOUR life style. Some people like to entertain in the kitchen. For others a kitchen is a necessary evil and only eat prepared meals or dine in restaurants. My daughter here in Canada is currently working on the best design for my current kitchen that was poorly designed in the first place. Are you tearing out everything including the walls? You WILL have to work around available wiring outlets and where it's best to install what you need.

you can try buildsabai, our school was a total ruin and it is looking very nice now, you can come and see. Natika is really trying ( company's boss). I guess let her work speak for herself.
