Anyone know if it would be possible to extend a touristvisa during these days? My visa expires april 14th, and would rather take a taxi inside Bangkok then leave the country.

nice to get a 4-hour window for re-entry during the waterfight...

if i didn't get my nonB from Bangkok immigration, can I still get my re-entry there?

If you did not extend in Bangkok you have to obtain re-entry from the office that you did. They have not advised of any exception for the holidays.

So to confirm for all those who are forced to use "localized" immigration offices outside of Bangkok, there is no way you can get a re-entry stamp during the waterfight. The special services hours noted in this post are provided only for those who extended in Bangkok. See below annoucement from the Immigration "Bureau" website. If the education system wasn't in such poor shape, I would wonder how oversights like this could be possible...

Bangkok Immigration Division is responsible and authorized for the applicant residing only in Bangkok. Application for re-entry permit must be submitted at the Immigration Office / Checkpoint located in the area as applicant resides or at the particular Immigration Checkpoint authorized in that area as specified by zoning system. For more information, please check at our website

You can always try at the airport. They will provide in "emergency" so there might be a chance there. But probably only for the Friday holiday - scheduled holidays you should make allowance for.

A few vital questions for which I cannot seem to find any answers:

1) Has anyone had ANY experience with getting an "emergency" re-entry permit at the airport?

2) What do they consider emergencies?

3) What kind of evidence do you need to provide to prove it's an emergency?

All these vexing unanswered questions that Thai Immigration doesn't seem to give a dam_n to explain to we, their "customers." (...er prisoners. I forgot, it's an agency of the police).

I have seen no posts about getting an emergency re-entry permit at the airport. You could call immigration and ask. Try this number 1178.

I think the best thing to do is get at least a single entry when you do your extension as a just in case measure. The 1000 baht it costs might be well worth it if an emergency did come up.

Hiya.

1) My Boss got an 'emergency' re-entry permit at the airport. It was during the Song Kran Festival and we had a bit of visa nightmare.

2) I think this is depending on the officers and circumstances. I believe that my Boss told the officers that it was an emergency trip which he had only knew about it on Friday 10th when the Government announced as an extra holiday and he did not have enough time to apply for a re-entry at the immigration office. (BTW - this was not true because the trip was planned a month in advance but because of the problems with the extension of stay so he had to try his luck)

3) I did the normal re-entry permit form for him. His photos (can't remember 1 or 2) and 1,000 Baht fee.

Good luck.

Very good advice. Thanks.
