This sub ject was covered before, however, this might be of use to the Brits.

First you need a UK Bank a/c mine is Barclays also a cheque book - (funny old idea), then you need a savings a/c in Thailand, mine is with Ayudhya in down town Ubon Rat......

You write a cheque to yourself in £'s and deposit it in your Thai a/c. There is a 200Bht service charge, you get the Thai exchange rate and there are no charges made by Barclays. It takes about 2 weeks to complete.

If you go into the bank you can draw up to 150000Bht/day (needles to say funds have to be available) They phone thro to Visa for approval. Funny old thing but you only get about 1.9Bht/less this way than the cheque way.

I have to say I am very lucky to know a manager in A B who speaks good Eng she gets things done very quickly - but sadly this is LOS and things don't allways go so well in other banks.

35mins I came out with a new savings a/c, an ATM card and PIN - wow - very lucky. 2 years befor with KTB 3 hours later I just got a savings book and a uk cheque took 1 month to clear.

ps. Have you noticed Leo and Singha now are only 5% Al.
