Celebrity Style

Featured Replies

Considering the threads that we've had recently, I fancied a totally frivolous, girly one. It may do well, or it may crash & burn... :o so, here goes:

If you could look like any celebrity - who would you choose & why? OK, I know we should be happy in our own skin, but this is just for fun...

I was a bit stuck. I think Catherine Zeta Jones & Halle Berry are two of the most stunning women on the planet (& about my age, though they're wearing a lot better than me!), but, all in all, it's got to be Gwen Stefani. Gorgeous face, wonderful bod, stylish, rock chick attitude, just fantastic!

Anyone?

whilst i, like most women, would love to lose weight, i am generally happy with my lot.

but if i had to look like any one particular celebrity i dont know how you could go past Angelina Jolie. she is one hot mama. i reckon i would turn for her.....

MS JOLIE For The Win! HUGE fan. :o

I wanna be Sean Connery. He's a very neat and elegant dresser. He's looks like a perfect gentleman in his suit. :o

Antonio Banderas will do as well. He's dirty bad boy look and corny smile is fantastic.

Jennifer Lopez. I love her laughter and the way she smiles when she laughs.. Speakless of the booty

However, I am pretty certain she had a nose job.. she had some tweaking.

I think you forgot to mention this :o

don't know if this fit's or not but my wife mentioned something that might be a little crass but makes perfect sense (yes there was some drinking involved when she came up with this one)

She said that she would want to be Brad Pitt's condom and get the best of both worlds.... think about it.

I'd say that I'd have to agree.

yes, well we werent making judgements on her sexual history. i do not believe she is a slut. certainly no more than a lot of men. get off her case. who cares who she has slept with? i, for one, dont.

i still say she is one hot mama.

I agree, Angelina Jolie is gorgeous, sexy and oozes sex appeal. And frankly, could care less about her sexual behavior. She's not doing it with goats or children, so whats the issue. It takes two to tango and presumably both consenting adults.

Another one who is gorgeous with sex appeal (and is pretty new on the scene) is Megan Fox. I like the dark hair :o

elle macpherson.....

beautiful, australian, great hair, intelligent and a woman in charge of her life.

gotta love elle.

I'll give you Angelina. Had forgotten about her (how could I forget her?).

Another one I like (for totally different reasons) is a young Lauren Bacall. Very beautiful, classy, feisty & with an air of mystery :o

I too would opt for Angelina.

BTW, my Cambodian "niece" looks very much like her, only better (well OK I am a bit biased...but all her peers have also noticed the resemblance and she always has a crowd of guys in hot pursuit as she walks around campus),

I would love to be Sophie Marceau. She is a kind of good combination between sexy and cute.

can't think of anyone really- sometimes i think christina aguilera has a lot of cool styles (saw a show on her life once that made me envious) though she is a little too plastic for me... did anyone see the new thai movie 'ploy'? the young thai girl in it is exactly what i wished i was when i was younger. i am pretty happy with myself though- crooked teeth, big ears and nose, no ass and all...

Gross Britney.

I'd like to look like myself and be a celebrity.

oh wow! i didnt even pick that as britney!

i actually thought it was some streetwalker somewhere. oops.....

OH i thought this was " Celebrity Style, Which celeb would you like to look like?" thread, not "Celebrity Style, Which celeb would you like to pick holes in and make fun of?" thread.

I may not be a fan of certain people, but why do things have to degenerate into negative remarks and poking fun of another person, esp in the female section? Also, I think we already have enough men available to criticize without fellow women doing so. I just cant conceive why its necessary. Is there some sense of one-upmanship gained over another in making fun of them or calling them disgusting names?

Granted you can argue that they are in the spotlight thus open for comment, but I think that the tabloid tat does a good enough job of that already.

eek, can you honestly tell me that if you were out for lunch with a friend & someone walked past dressed in that bizarre way, you wouldn't nudge your friend or make a comment?

If you wouldn't, then kudos to you, you're a better person than me, because I'd probably choke on my soup if I saw someone dressed like that in broad daylight. :o

...hmmm....ok...

..i humbly accept that I may just do that NR. Yes..probably most likely. Point taken.

However.. I dont go out my way to make a point of it.

If someone passed my way looking like that, then yes I would probably raise an eyebrow and if with a friend then may make a quiet comment like ..'Whoa, bloody hel_l!", but, i wouldnt be mean about it, just a bit disbelieving.

Thing is..i think its a bit unfair to go out of ones way to make fun of another person.

Although surprised by the post, I have a great respect for the lovely bambina. And the 'Jolie is a slut' comment just seemed an harsh judgement without reasoning. I mean..whats that comment based on? Fact, hearsay, press comments, personal judgement, double male/female standards?

Aff..well..dont mind me..i just get a bit ruffled when people pick on others when I see no good reason too. Misplaced sense of respect for others maybe... i dunno, but I know its not something i digest easy. I am not totally naive, I just like viewing the world with a tint of rose coloured glasses. Makes the bitter pills much sweeter.

edit: Also, the press always seem to go out their way to take down vunerable people. Or maybe thats just the impression i get. Many images like the B.Spears ones are edited before being published. Most celebs dont look like themselves half the time! Cindy Crawford years ago said that on one cover shot she hardly recognised herself, and that the mole was the only giveaway that it was her. Some celebs would look a million bucks in a binbag, but many, like Ms Spears, look like oridinary women who get 'touched up' in photoshop or have body doubles in movies and music vids. Granted, britney does look a bit of a fright there, but if the mag who published those shots wanted to, they could have taken flattering shots and/or edited to make her look amazing.

I think we all agreed that the "slut" comment was uncalled for. (And what a surprise that it was made by a man - I think you could be right in your "double standards" reasoning. :o )

I agree with you about the way that the media portray celebrities - when they're flavour of the month, it's all gorgeous pics, but when they're down they get a good kicking, as is the case for Ms Spears now. Doesn't change the fact that she dressed herself like a mini skirted Elvira & went out in public like that, though. If it had been baggy, tatty sweats I don't think any of us women would have said a thing - just felt sorry for her for what she's been through. :D

let me just add, eek, that i really did think it was a picture of an unfortunate call girl. i did not think for a second that it was britney until it was pointed out.

yes, the slut comment was very uncalled for.

Just so you know, the photo of Britney was taken while she was shooting a new video for her new album. hence the bizarre clothes.

But regardless, I think its human nature to want to point out someone else's flaws, makes us feel better about our own. I don't mind seeing a picture of some skinny celebrity with cellulite because then I can think, "well, she's got it too, so mine isn't so bad after all".

Apologies if my post came across as a 'holier-than-thou' attitude, for im far from it.

Was an initial reaction from having read the 'slut' comment then seeing the pics too.

Im most certainly not perfect and i dont always have a positive side. If im honest with myself I guess there have been/will be again times when i have bitched about another person, but its not a quality I like it in myself. Great release, but feel guilty afterwards! Hmm..unless the person REALLY deserves it! :D God, i dont know now. Im feeling confused. This thread has made me rethink about what I consider ok and not. I suppose i must have some kind of individual moral code I apply regarding comments about another person. Geez..feeling like such a hypocrite. :o

ANyway..to get back on topic (sorry!) another celeb I admire is mila jovovich. Great acting and great style. She has a laid back look but stunning and elegant at the same time. Real enigma.

I thought she looked especially dramatic in The Fifth Element.

Her face reminds me of a more classic b&w era actress, such as Lauren Bacall.
