Ministry orders strict police action on paedophiles

BANGKOK: -- The Ministry of Social Development and Human Security has asked police to take strict action on paedophiles following the recent arrest of a Finnish man thought to have involved over 400 Thai boys in his paedophile operations.

The 42 year-old Finnish suspect, who has not been named, was arrested recently by police in his home country on his return from Thailand.

His diaries apparently detail his abuse against 445 Thai boys over the past 16 years.

Today Mrs. Phanita Khamphu Na Ayutthaya, Director-General of the ministry's Bureau of Welfare Promotion and Protection of Children, Youths, the Underprivileged, Persons with Disabilities, and Older Persons told reporters that data suggested that Scandinavian paedophiles tended to focus on young boys, rather than girls.

Stressing that the sexual abuse of minors was a punishable offence even when the children involved had apparently consented, she warned that all paedophiles faced heavy criminal charges.

She also noted that paedophiles were implicated in human trafficking operations, an issue to which other countries attached great importance, and said that it was the duty of the police to apply the law strictly to all paedophiles.

"In most cases, foreigners purchase sex via websites", she said.

"Prevention must, therefore, involve the Ministry of Information and Communications Technology (ICT) working with the police", she noted.

Calling for action to ensure that children knew how to protect themselves against paedophiles, she said that the government should hold a major meeting on paedophilia to thrash out systematic measures to prevent human trafficking.

Right, so the children are going to learn about the big, bad, white-faced foreigner, and the Thai peds are consistently out on bail if they are out at all :o

I have absolutely no tolerance for pedophiles, but Thai hypocrisy on this issue makes me want to vomit.

HUH? can anyone explain this statement?

It must be a translation error right?

Leith, the way I read that statement is that foreign pedohpiles are now the centerpiece of human trafficking in their thinking, not the actual locals and government officials who kidnap, lie, turn a blind eye, and sell children and women into sexual slavery in the first place.

In terms of other countries attaching great importance - well yes, especially since it was foreign countries that forced any kind of semblance of laws in this country regarding human trafficking in the first place!

Don't get me wrong, people - I despise all pedophiles. But I'd like to know when Thailand is going to take responsibility for its own attitudes toward sexual abuse of women and children which attract international peds in the first place.

My thoughts exactly. The children become educated to the extent that the big bad white-faced foreigner will be portrayed as either a pedo or drug dealing mafia type, whilst underage sex and molesting continues on a larger scale throughout the country. The reason it hardly ever makes the headlines is that it is normally underground activity. The only reason that this subject is in the news is because it involves a foreigner and the unusually high number of cases. Were it not for this fact, we would not be discussing it on this forum. The Finnish guy deserves all he gets for his alleged crimes, but the isolated incidents perpetrated by many individuals on a larger (national) scale in this country should also be highlighted, for it is just as criminal and damaging to those who suffer.

By the way.....do they have penguins in Finland. Never knew that......

The root of the government’s action is probably due to bad press in humiliating documentaries on foreign TV about Thailand being a haven for pedophiles. I think national pride is a bigger concern to the goverment than some village boy from issaan. Hence the emphasis on foreign offenders, local offenders don't make the foreign news.

This is a true and recent story. I will also make it short. I was told by a member of the Bar staff. That a farang guy had just checked into the hotel with a young Thai boy. I asked the girl did he show any ID, she said he had not. I asked the girl a few more questions and sort of established that it was all not quite kosha. I was with a friend of mine who had also heard all of this and we both decided to investigate. I went to the room with my friend and knocked on the door. I was eventually answered by an Italian male about 30 years of age. I asked him if he had a young boy in the room and he denied it. I then pushed past him with out any great violence and went to the bathroom, where I found a 9 year old boy hiding behind the door wearing a towel. My friend then grabbed the Farang and was just about to beat the shit out of him till I told him to stop and leave the room. The wife of the owner (Thai) arrived. I explained what had happened and I asked her to call the Police and to take care of the 9 year old who was now dressed. The boy was out on the landing with my friend and several other people. While I was in the room the owner’s wife told the boy to run and prevented my friend from following him, just long enough to allow him to get away. I was then told that the boy had gone. So the owner’s wife said it was not worth calling the police. I kept hold of the guy and made other arrangements to call the police. They eventually arrived. I explained what had happed and gave them the digital camera I had taken off him. They questioned him for 5 minutes. Told me they had nothing to hold him on and would be letting him go. I said did he have a passport to prove who he said he was and they replied no. I said did you check the camera they said they didn’t know how. I told them I would help them. They told me it would not be necessary. They let him go.

My only regret is that I did not allow my friend to do what he quite clearly wanted to do, and to this day he reminds me of this.

I was in Phuket in December and saw several guys with 10-14 :o year old girls walking down the street. One guy in particular had his hands all over a girl that couldn't have been more than 12.

So, I discretely took pictures of this guy with my digital camera to give to the South African authorities, but they got destroyed during the tsunami.

I didn't know this was also going on in Pattaya, so I will go there this weekend to get more pictures. Maybe I will give them to the Thai authorities also.

From BBC news website:

Finn accused of abusing 445 boys

Finnish police are investigating a man suspected of sexually abusing 445 boys in Thailand over a 15-year period.

The unnamed man was arrested as he flew into Finland in January.

Police said they had found diary entries detailing the man's sexual partners, who are all thought to be male prostitutes between 10 and 13.

No charges have yet been brought, but the man could face 10 years in jail if he is found guilty of sexually abusing the children.

Detective Chief Inspector Mika Ihaksinen said the case was Finland's biggest ever, in terms of the number of victims.

The man, who is in his early 40s, is thought to have made up to 26 trips to Thailand since 1989.

Belgian tip-off

Police said they were tipped off about his activities by Belgian paedophilia investigators, and they had confiscated videotapes, CDs and the man's own diaries.

"We have concrete evidence against him in the form of child pornography which he himself produced in Thailand," Detective Chief Inspector Lars Henriksson said.

"In a home search we found his diary notes, which also contained statistics on how many boys he had abused per trip.

"He has kept a cumulative figure and it ends at about 445."

He said the pornographic material appeared to have been made for his own use, and the man was not apparently linked to any paedophile ring.

He is expected to face trial in May or June.

Me too, I want pedophiles' balls to roll, and the dick thrown, not to the good old duck though, but to the rats. What bothers me, why not mix a couple of Thai balls under, from times to times? Why do girls in Nana, etc. work there at the age of 18 at all, and then have pregnant marks of 3 babies? Cause bad falangs came to Isaan when she was 14 ??? Yeah.

Pedos, with the Thai Premium Member card, you f..ing creeps can still go ahead anyway I presume...

Apparently it happens all over. this from the Phuket Gazette a few days ago

Source :-

http://www.phuketgazette.net/queernews/index.asp?id=4227

KATHU: Police arrested a 66-year-old English language teacher from Canada on charges of sexually molesting a minor, after the man allegedly enticed his five-year-old student to perform oral sex on him by covering his penis with honey.

At 9:40 pm on April 18, a team of Kathu District Police officers led by Pol Capt Serm Kwanimit entered the home of the suspect at 78/3 Moo 4, on Soi Pattana in Chalong. They had a warrant for the man’s arrest on charges of sexually molesting a child under 15 years of age.

Thus far the man, who has been living in Thailand for six months every year in recent years, has denied the charges.

The suspect, the correct English language spelling of whose name was not available as this went to print, was allegedly hired by a 40-year-old Thai woman to provide daily English language lessons to her five-year-old adopted son at a rate of 3,000 baht a month. The lessons were held near the end of February in a government-provided apartment for employees of Patong Hospital, where the man’s Thai wife was employed as a nurse.

The boy’s mother told police she had been sending her son to study with the Canadian every day in the late afternoon. All appeared to be going well, until one day she was walking along Patong Beach with the boy when they saw a woman selling bottles of honey from two baskets suspended from a shoulder pole.

When the boy noticed the brand of honey she was hawking, he recognized it and told his mom, “that kind of honey is sweet”. When she asked how he knew this, the ugly truth was revealed.

The boy said his English teacher rubbed honey of the same brand on his penis at the end of every lesson and then put his sex organ into the boy’s mouth. The teacher then masturbated himself to orgasm, the woman quoted her son as innocently revealing.

Upon learning this, the mother immediately filed a complaint with the Kathu Police and ended the boy’s English lessons. At about the same time, the man’s wife quit her job and the pair moved to Chalong, where he was eventually arrested.

Police said the investigation into the man had to be conducted though police in Bangkok, which explained the delay in making the arrest. Police were last reported to be investigating further to see if any similar charges were filed against the suspect in the past.

MCOT/ TNA the writers of the story - at the head of this topic - are often pulling this stunt. Focussing on westerners.

As Kat says, getting their own house in order might be apt.

Its very bad form for a News Agency, because they carry a clear anti-Westerner agenda. (TNA put out the story of the elderly American fellow a few months ago). The Nation takes a lot of their material.

Its very transparent, and I feel sad that Thai visa regards them as a reputable agency.

eg ...on the day of the last quake 28 March - TNA didn't even have it up on their site 2 hours after Thaivisa did !

Pattaya is already got its own crackdowns going on and despite what you might hear it is'nt really in public view so you will be wasting your time. Leave it to the authorities. :D

I agree with that assessment. Additionally, it's often poorly written as well as often containing many errors, both grammatical and factual.

The Nation takes a lot of their material.

Totally disagree with that assessment. They may cover the same stories, but I have found on many, many occasions that the Nation has the factual information and is written in English that isn't comical. They certainly do their own writing on any story.

I'm not sure that TV does consider them credible. So many of TNA's stories are so glaringly wrong or suspect, I assume they are started as threads for their comedic value...and perhaps that's the reason. I would, however, agree that on a truly serious newsworthy item, a more credible source should be utilized, such as The Nation.

TNA should cite us, not the other way around...  :o

TNA is being totally disingenuous with this story. A Thai Rak Thai mouthpiece.

The Finnish person, whoever he is, back in Finland ...well he didn't get arrested here anyway....This is all just a photo op for some Thai Goverment Wonk to come out and say something anti-Western about how westerners are corrupting their kids.

(Then go back indoors and do precisely nothing to stop the skin trade)

The Nation - ...........lets see if they take this story in tomorrow's paper and if they rewrite /slant it differently. I agree. normally Nation is indy in its views, but sometimes it gets a bit lazy and just reprints from Agency - I think a lack of Sub Editor resources.

I'm not sure what you mean about their channels?? their television channels?

I was referring to their website, which is free.

I agree that sometimes stories might be a bit slow coming online, but most stories aren't all that desperately urgent, and I associate some of their slowness with checking out facts before publishing something first.

Well excuse me for being honest but if the stupid thai government actually took some action to remove these whores and prostitutes from the streets then maybe it would change. A white man cant even walk to a cash machine without some dirty bitch asking if he wants sex or a dirty massage for ######s sake.

You are allowed to smoke but UBC blocks it, what a joke !

There are no sex shops but you cant walk around town on holiday without some frigging whore trying to get money out of you for sex ?????

I'm sorry if my honesty offends but this is fact and until the Thai government closes the shops, what do you expect ?

How can you not expect people to take advantage when the streets are full of whores and prostitutes who simply jump on the back of the nearest white man ?

You try walking around "Pantip" and others without some annoying bastard shouting "Sexy DVD sir" every 5 seconds ...............

And then you wonder why this happens !

I hope the admin will not delete this as this is an honest post based on my visit and I wont be back.

Thanks for reading
