  1. I agree but ... Thai bloke went down and got up again. French bloke started to turn his back on the Thai, appearing to walk away after being blocked by bystanders but Thai bloke piled in again which led to the head injury. When the Thai was down a second time, Frenchie seemed to back away again, at which point the video ends. To me it appears the Thai fella 'reengaged' to a much greater extent than the Frenchman.
  2. The French bloke tried to walk away but wasn't allowed to, according to the video I've seen.
  3. That's exactly what was shown on Channel 3 News this morning. I remember thinking "At least the foreigner walked away when his opponent was down, rather than putting the boot in".
  4. Whip scorpion. Vinegaroon. Completely harmless to you.
  5. Had a similar experience earlier this year. No real solution or justification from Roojai but it was still cheaper than the opposition.
  6. They look like some I've used about the house. They're fine and act like UK plugs in that they don't pull out of the wall socket. BUT, at least on the ones I used, L and N terminals were labelled backwards for my Thai wall sockets so check that you're connecting in accordance with your installation and not necessarily as the pins are labelled. .
  7. I used the app. for a while and liked it but they updated it to only use iOS 13 and above. I'm not that modern so it was back to SMSs.
  8. I also tried changing SIM to my wife's phone. My phone is Apple, my wife's phone is Samsung. Still didn't receive OTP.
  9. I've had this problem for over a week - phone service is AIS. I enter Gateway ID and password, get a message saying OTP has been sent - the partial phone number is correct - but it never arrives. On my phone, origin of OTP messages was a Thai phone number "+66 89 304 0043". I phoned HMRC who said they'd had many similar complaints but everything was correct at their end. E-mailed AIS who were very good in their response. They said SMS messages had arrived from senders "BIG3G" and "SSB_PROD" at about the times I requested OTP. Those senders seem to bear no relation to Government Gateway or HMRC. Ultimately, though, AIS couldn't solve the problem. Late yesterday, I tried to get OTP again - same problem. Just before writing this, I tried yet again, expecting the same problem again. BUT THE OTP ARRIVED INSTANTLY!! This time the origin of the OTP was "NXSMS" rather than the Thai number. Looks like it was an HMRC problem all along. I suspect the OTP system was undergoing a change but the call centre operators weren't aware of it. I wonder how much stick they got from callers because the OTP department didn't keep them informed.
  10. No need to - SMS has previously always been successful but maybe something to look in to. Thanks for that option reminder.
  11. After many, many months of successfully receiving OTPs for my UK Personal Tax Account, this week they suddenly stopped arriving. Then I saw this https://www.nationthailand.com/in-focus/40014513 during a search for solutions to the problem. Is there a connection? I'm talking to AIS at the moment. Maybe they'll resolve the problem.
  12. Don't you use punctuation in your language or did you just not have the intelligence to learn about it?
  13. Same here for last Sunday morning arrival, Thai Airways. Sent Mrs.L a message - she likes to be kept informed - at 06.26 to say plane had landed. At 7.09, I had my suitcase.
  14. Yes. I'm in Thailand at the moment. On Sunday at 5.15 pm I registered for TP to return on 12th. June from a short trip to UK. I received the QR code at 9.06 the same evening - 3 1/4 hours.
  15. My TP registration was accepted in an e-mail at 5.51 pm yesterday (Sunday). Approval and QR code received at 9.06 pm, 3 1/4 hours later. Entry date (following a trip to UK) will be 12 June. I'm in Thailand. I call that excellent service. Uploaded passport, Thai vaccination certificates for 3 vaccinations and insurance docs. plus Pink Card because my passport number wasn't quoted on the most recent vacc. certs., only 13-digit Pink Card number (although both were quoted on earlier certs).
  16. "He said that (the gun) was only a toy belonging to a relative and it just happened to be under his bike seat so he decided to threaten his ex with it". I wonder how many other people he's threatened with the gun (real or not) that "just happened to be under his bike seat".
  17. Lost my Little Cat today. She came into our lives about 10 years ago - a tiny tabby kitten who didn't seem old enough to be out alone. She wandered into our kitchen one evening and - despite some very stiff opposition form our existing 5 cats (mother and 4 yearlings) - she decided we were her family and stayed. Because she was so small and we had no real intention of keeping her, we just called her 'Little Cat' but she started to answer to that name so it stuck. Unlike the other cats, she had a full and proper tail which I loved. She was spayed at about a year old. She was the sort of cat you could do anything with - throw her, hold her upside down, tickle her belly. So good-natured,. About 5 years ago she developed FIV and has lived with it without any apparent problems, apart from her teeth, since then. Last week she went rapidly downhill. Lost about 25% body weight, wouldn't eat or drink, was constantly wet, listless and always crying. The vet at Khon Kaen University Animal Hospital diagnosed chronic kidney failure, anaemia, dehydration probably due to her FIV. They said they could keep her in hospital for aggressive treatment which might achieve nothing lasting or we could take her home. Since she couldn't/wouldn't eat, that would have meant slow starvation, not something I was prepared to inflict on her. Much to my surprise, he also offered to euthanase her. I say 'surprise' because I've always understood that most vets wouldn't consider it. I decided that was the most caring option for her. She died as I was hugging and brushing her. I buried her this afternoon in our garden which was her world. I'm really going to miss her. Of the other 5 cats; mum died. 3 males wandered off as they do. One spayed female is still with us but I don't think she ever forgave Little Cat for barging into our home. Sorry to go on but I'm a bit emotional just now.
  18. No indication of where it was done, UJ. But what's important is that it's done and done quickly. The only reason I mentioned KK was that, when I did my annual extension in late December, they replaced the online 'next notification' for 9 March with one of their own for 26 March. The KK date didn't then replace the online date in the website, hence my conclusion that KK and website didn't seem to talk to each other. For my own convenience, I stuck with the online report date.
  19. I sent my 90-Day renewal on the new site this morning at 07.20. Approval e-mail and 'next notification' received at 08.56. My IO is Khon Kaen but that doesn't seem to have any connection with this 90-Day site at all. This is my second renewal on the new site, both without a hitch although the approval for the first attempt took 6 days.
  20. I've never driven a big vehicle but thanks for confirming what simple physics will tell you - that having a big weight at the end of the trailer is a no-no.
  21. I did a 90-Day on the new reporting site in December - piece of cake! - and got a 'next report' date of 9th. March. Come the time for annual extension renewal at Khon Kaen in late December, the local IO cancelled that and gave me another reporting date of 26th. March. Today I got an e-mail message saying my report is due 9th. March - i.e. the site hasn't been updated with KK's new date - and logging into the website shows the same date. Since I've done my 90-Days online for a long time, I'll comply with the online date of 9th. Doing it then is preferable to going to the KK office.
  22. Does anybody know whether a Bail Bond is a requirement for vehicle insurance - Class 1 in my case - in Thailand or is it an option that can be accepted or declined, reduced or increased in level etc.? Background; I've recently had a renewal quote - for a bike - and despite earning a 20% NCD, my overall premium ROSE by 30%. This was entirely due to an unrequested and unwanted Bail Bond increase from 600,000 > 1,070,000 THB - that part of the premium rose by 67%!!!!!. No change in the pretty paltry medical benefits. Personally, I see little need for a BB and certainly not one for 1,070,000 THB. My car insurance with the same insurance agent - Roojai - was renewed in January with a BB of 300,000 which is far more reasonable. If 300,000THB is OK for a car, it should be OK for any vehicle or are we likely to be seen as more of a bail risk simply for riding a bike?
  23. Not Zebra crossing related but yesterday I was visiting a small Udon Thani town, near the market so it was busy. About 10 motorcycles were all across the road in one direction. An ambulance came speeding up behind them, lights flashing. I was very impressed when every single one of those bikes moved over to the left to let it through. It was sort-of spoiled when we were driving home. Again a bike on a fairly busy two-lane road used by cane trucks; the passenger was holding a plank of wood, maybe 4 metres long, widthwise across the bike so that it stuck out about 1.5 metres each side. Very difficult to see as it was a black plank and didn't show-up well against the road. I wondered whether they made it home in one piece.
  24. Agree. That was the first thing I googled when I saw Crossy's picture.
  25. I've had a Stallions CT 250 Max for 5 years, among other bikes. Still looks good (although I tend to take good care of my bikes) going strong and reliably - nothing much wrong with the engine. Spares are easy to get from the Stallions factory - look at this website:- https://stallionsmotor.com/en/support/
